Overall, Medterra produces high quality CBD isolate and broad spectrum CBD products that are entirely free of THC. They use non-GMO industrial hemp, never marijuana, to create their CBD products, which is always grown under the highest standards on legal farms in Kentucky. They are U.S. Hemp Authority™ Certified, and they abide by the Department of Agriculture and the Kentucky Hemp Pilot Program regulations. This means, their farms and growing practices have been evaluated by regulatory bodies and are shown to meet specific standards, including the avoidance of glyphosate. To extract the CBD, they use a CO2 extraction method. Also, all of their products are third party tested by independent labs. When looking at the third party results of our products, we had to contact customer care because they were not uploaded to the site. However, the results showed that their products were free from pesticides, solvents, bacteria, THC, and other contaminants. Plus, the amount of CBD in the product was always at or slightly about the amount listed on the label.
As far as the company itself goes, they are made up of highly educated and credentialed individuals, including a pharmacist, a medical doctor, and two veterinarians. The company has been operating since 2017, and has earned much praise in the CBD community. Online their company is noted to be one of the top CBD companies around. Medterra offers a decent number of different products. The majority of their products are manufactured using CBD isolate. A single CBD tincture manufactured using broad-spectrum CBD is also offered with a few flavor options. Their product range includes a few CBD topical creams, lotions, and roll-ons, CBD tinctures, CBD capsules, pet products, and several bundles. At this time, there are no vape products, edibles, coffee, teas, or bath and beauty products like face masks on the Medterra website. In short, they carry most standard CBD products, as well as some unique CBD merchandise like their Manuka honey CBD cream and Good Morning Capsules.

It is easy to find ways to contact Medterra. They list a contact phone number and customer service business hours: Monday to Friday from 6am to 5pm PST, and Saturdays 8am-2pm PST. They also list their contact email address for customer concerns as well as a live chat, which is active during the same business hours as their call center. The terms and conditions page outlines some of the company’s policies, such as a 30 day return policy. However, this page mainly provides information about their policies dealing with the use of your information, legal liability, and cookies. Their shipping and return page provides details concerning when they ship your order, which is usually the same day, and their shipping options. Shipping options include USPS First Class, USPS Priority Mail, FedEx Ground, FedEx Express Saver, FedEx 2 Day and FedEx Standard Overnight. Once you place an order, you will be emailed a confirmation, which includes a tracking number. Damaged packages are to be reported within 72 hours of when you receive them to qualify for replacement.

Manufacturing Process
All of Medterra’s hemp products begin with industrial hemp that is legally grown on American farms in Kentucky. They report that their hemp is non-GMO as well as organically grown, however, the products do not seem to be USDA organic certified. They vow that you can always trust that their products are 100% legal, safe, and U.S. Hemp Authority™ Certified. The U.S. Hemp Authority™ is a program that analyzes the growing and manufacturing practices of hemp companies and offers certifications. Being certified by the U.S. Hemp Authority™ means the company maintains strict growing and manufacturing standards. The company demonstrates a willingness to abide by the highest level of hemp growing quality standards.
To extract the CBD from the industrial hemp, Medterra uses a CO2 extraction method which ensures that its CBD products contain zero THC. They create both CBD isolate, which is 99.9% pure CBD, as well as broad spectrum CBD, which includes terpenes, polyphenols, and other cannabinoids that are naturally present in the hemp plant. Medterra ensures all THC is removed. To confirm this, they utilize independent third party testing. Independent third party testing allows consumers to verify that the CBD products they purchase are safe and pure. Third party testing measures the amount of CBD, THC, as well as other cannabinoids in the product.
Furthermore, the testing evaluates whether or not there are any pesticides, microbial contaminants, heavy metals, or other contaminants that may be harmful to you as a consumer. In short, third party testing is essential to provide the consumer with peace of mind. Testing assures that they are using a safe CBD product. This is important in fields such as CBD, where there are no standards set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) at this time.
When comparing the third party lab results of Medterra’s 3000mg CBD tincture, we had to download a QR code reader app. Each of Medterra’s products has a QR code on the package, not the product itself. Scanning the QR code takes you to information about their CBD products. Next, you will have to select the specific product to see the third party results. After that, you must identify your product number. We could not determine what the product identification number was and had to reach out to customer service for assistance. At first, we called the customer care line. It was a Saturday, so no one answered. Next, we tried to send a message through their chat option on the website and, again, no one was available.
On Monday, we sent another chat message, which was sent as an email to their customer care team. After about an hour, we received a response informing us the batch number is listed on the bottom of the product. In our case, the third party results were not uploaded onto the website for five out of the six products we received. When we informed the customer care representative by replying directly to the email, he apologized and sent over the lab result for our product within minutes.
The third party lab report was prepared by Green Scientific Labs. It lists the results of analyses for THC, CBD, solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, and microbial contaminants. The results of our 3000mg CBD Oil Tincture showed that it passed all of the tests. There was no detectable THC, and the CBD content was 3155mg per bottle. This means the variance is 5%, which is below the acceptable 10% variance usually applied to CBD products.
Medterra CBD Broad Spectrum Cannabinoid Tincture Overview
Medterra offers two types of CBD tinctures. The first is their Broad Spectrum Cannabinoid Tincture, which comes in three natural flavors: citrus, strawberry mint, and unflavored. There are two potencies for each flavor offered as well, 1000mg and 2000mg of CBD per bottle. Each bottle contains 30ml. The CBD is CO2 extracted and an organic coconut MCT carrier oil is added. Like all of their products, the Broad Spectrum Cannabinoid Tincture is third party tested with results available on the product page. The dropper has several markings that help you measure out exact doses. The company does not indicate what health concerns this product may address but they do state that it can be taken, by mouth, day or night.
Medterra CBD Oil Tincture Overview
Medterra also offers a 30ml CBD isolate tincture. Their CBD isolate tincture is 99%+ pure CBD and always THC free, extracted by CO2, and third party tested. It is formulated in a base of organic coconut MCT oil and designed to be taken sublingually day or night. There are three different potencies, 500mg, 1000mg, or 3000mg, which are all unflavored.

Medterra CBD Gel Capsules Overview
Medterra has a few different types of CBD capsules. All of the CBD capsules are created with CBD isolate, which is CO2 extracted and then dissolved in a base of organic coconut MCT oil. They contain no THC as confirmed by third party testing, which is available for each lot number. The capsules themselves are made from gelatin, which is animal based and therefore not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
For their Gel Capsules, which are pure CBD isolate products, Medterra offers two strengths, 25mg and 50mg of CBD per capsule. Both potencies are unflavored and come in a bottle with 30 servings. These are taken orally and can be used day or night.
Their Good Morning Capsules contain other ingredients in addition to CBD isolate such as caffeine, B vitamins, L-tyrosine, and L-theanine to boost mental clarity, alertness, and stamina. These are intended to be taken in the morning, by mouth. Each capsule contains 12.5mg of CBD, and a serving size is two capsules. A bottle contains 30 servings (60 capsules).
For night time, there are CBD + Melatonin tablets. These are designed to help customers achieve a night of restful sleep. Each capsule contains 25mg of CBD isolate and 10mg of melatonin. A serving size is one tablet, and a bottle contains 30 tablets. They are spearmint flavored and Medterra recommends you allow one capsule to dissolve under your tongue before bed. These are not gel capsules, but dissolvable tablets. Other ingredients include D-mannitol, crospovidone, dibasic calcium phosphate, xylitol, spearmint, avocado oil powder, magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide.

Medterra CBD Topicals Overview
In addition to capsules and tinctures, Medterra has created a few topical CBD products as well. These topical creams and roll-ons deliver CBD to the skin directly.
The CBD Rapid Cooling Cream comes in three potencies, 250mg, 500mg, and 750mg of CO2 extracted CBD isolate. Both are 100mL in total. Other ingredients include arnica and menthol, which creates a cooling effect when applied to the skin. It is intended for joint and muscle aches, according to Medterra. They recommend using a thin layer and allowing 30 minutes to feel the effects. It can be applied multiple times during the day. Each bottle is said to have 100 uses.
The CBD + Manuka cream contains either 125mg or 250mg of CBD per 30ml tub. It is formulated with CBD isolate that was CO2 extracted. Medterra states that it is a soothing skin cream that can be applied anywhere on the body, avoiding mucus membranes. They do not indicate how many milliliters to use per application, therefore it is unclear how many applications are in each tub. The cream is infused with 20 botanicals, such as cacao butter, jojoba seed oil, avocado oil, arnica, and aloe, in addition to CBD and manuka honey. The cream has a light smell of beeswax due to the presence of honey and organic beeswax.
The CBD Roll On Medterra offers is a cooling CBD topical which is designed to alleviate muscle tension. There is 250mg of CBD isolate in a 60mL bottle. The CBD is CO2 extracted and completely THC free, as confirmed by third party test results. Other ingredients include aloe, lavender, and camphor. They suggest rolling the product over areas of muscle pain or tension. The bottle does not indicate how much is dispensed per application or how many applications are in each bottle.

As you can see, the Pet Bundle has the most significant savings percentage-wise (19%). In terms of discounts, it is possible to save with some of Medterra’s discount programs and coupons. For instance, if you are a veteran or on long term disability, you can apply for their discount program under the tab “Medterra Assists.” They do not specify how much of a discount is offered.
The Buying Experience
Overall, the Medterra website is very easy to use. It has an intuitive design that makes finding products and adding them to your cart straightforward. There are large, purple buttons under each product that will allow them to be added to your cart. Next to the product, there is a description of what the CBD product is, what it contains, and options for selecting your CBD strength when there are multiple options available. If you forget to choose your strength and try to add a product to your cart, there will be a pop-up to prompt you to go back and select the strength you wish to purchase.
The company offers several shipping options: USPS First Class, USPS Priority Mail, FedEx Ground, FedEx Express Saver, FedEx 2 Day and FedEx Standard Overnight. In addition, there is free shipping on orders over $75. If your order is placed before 12pm PST Monday to Friday, your order will be shipped out the same day. On their Shipping page, they state that for most orders, you can expect to receive your product in 4 to 7 business days when using regular, non-expedited shipping.
On your checkout page, they indicate how far you are from receiving free shipping, based on your current order total. At the bottom of your checkout page, they offer suggestions for other products you may be interested in as well. When it is time to checkout, you can checkout as a guest or create an account and pay via credit card. If you subscribe, your order will be refilled every 30 days, so you can benefit from free shipping and savings on your products as well.
The products arrive in a small cardboard box that is non-descript. The products are placed inside with degradable packing peanuts. These peanuts completely dissolve when placed under water, which is an important aspect for people who are concerned about the environment and the effect of non-eco packaging.
As mentioned previously, we contacted customer service to get help finding the third party lab results for our specific products. Of the six products we received, only one had the correct results on the website. At first, we called outside of their business hours, so we had to wait until Monday to contact them again. On Monday, we reached out via their chat option, which essentially sends them an email. We received a pop-up message that they would get back to us shortly. We received an email that answered our question concerning where to find the batch number that proved to be located on the bottom of the product. Since our third party results were not uploaded onto the site, the customer service rep emailed us copies of the information. They were prompt with getting back to us, friendly, and helpful. It would have been ideal to have a live chat option available, as email communication is a bit slower.
Products Reviewed
We reviewed several of Medterra’s products, including topicals, capsules, and tinctures. The first product we reviewed was the 3000mg CBD tincture.
3000mg CBD Oil Tincture review
This CBD oil tincture is created using CBD isolate, meaning there are no other plant constituents found in the hemp plant, such as terpenes, flavonoids, and other cannabinoids incorporated into the tincture. The raw material is extracted using CO2. The ingredients are simply 3000mg of CBD isolate and organic coconut MCT oil which serves as the carrier. The bottle holds 30mL, and each serving (1ml) contains 100mg of CBD isolate.
The CBD Oil Tincture comes in a small box that has the supplement facts, ingredients, and suggested use on the side. The company recommends using the dropper to “apply the desired amount under the tongue, hold, then swallow.” They do not indicate how much to use per dose, or precisely what the CBD oil is intended for. On the other side of the box, there is a QR code that directs you to their third party lab result page. Once on the page, you must find your lot number to view the lab results for your specific product. The analysis of our 3000mg CBD Oil Tincture indicated that it conformed to all of the applicable standards. There was no detectable THC, and the CBD content was 3155mg per bottle. This represents a 5% variance, well within the acceptable 10% variance.
The bottle itself was made of glass. On the side of the bottle the supplement facts and ingredients were printed. There was no QR code on the bottle. The CBD oil itself is very clear and almost the consistency of water. There are several lines on the dropper, which allows for easy measuring and dispensing. Although the label instructions did not recommend how much to take, there are lines at 0.25ml, 0.5ml, 0.75ml, and 1ml. The oil has little flavor or odor. It left a slightly oily texture on the tongue. Overall, it was a very pleasing CBD oil in terms of taste and constituency.
Good Morning Capsules review
The Good Morning Capsules by Medterra come in a small cardboard box that is labeled with the supplement facts, ingredients, and a QR code on the side. Each bottle contains 60 capsules, and the serving size is 2 capsules. Medterra reports that these capsules are indicated for use in the morning to help with energy. Keep in mind, this is Medterra’s suggestion and the product’s effects have not been verified by us or by the FDA.
The ingredients include 400mg of L-tyrosine, 200mg of L-theanine, 50mg of caffeine, 40mg of B6, 25mg of CBD isolate extracted using CO2, and 500mcg of B12 per two capsules. It is formulated in a base of organic coconut MCT oil, glycerin, beeswax, and water enclosed within a gelatin capsule. Since the formulation is enclosed in a gelatin capsule, it is not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.
The bottle has a child-proof lid. Once opened, you will see the capsules, which are a light pink color. They have a slight plastic smell, which is similar to the scent of B-vitamin supplements. Texture-wise they are smooth, slippery, and firm.
CBD + Melatonin Capsules review
Medterra’s CBD + Melatonin tablets arrived in a small box which listed the ingredients, supplement facts and provided a QR code. These capsules are intended to be taken at night to promote sleep, according to Medterra. We have not evaluated or endorsed the effect of these capsules. Each capsule contains 25mg of CO2 extracted CBD isolate, 10mg of melatonin along with D mannitol, crospovidone, dibasic calcium phosphate, xylitol, spearmint, avocado oil powder, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide.
The bottle is protected with a child-proof lid. The capsules are protected with cotton inside. The tablets had a refreshing spearmint smell. Each tablet is about 1cm in diameter and had a chalky feel. They dissolved reasonably well under the tongue and had a pleasant mint taste, if a bit chalky.
CBD Rapid Cooling Cream review
The CBD Rapid Cooling Cream comes in a 100ml pump bottle. It is labeled with the ingredients on the back. No supplement facts were listed. The quantity of CBD in each pump was not stated. The instructions for use read “apply a small amount topically to the desired area and rub in. Use as needed. Wash hands with cool water after each use.” As you can see, they do not specify the conditions this cooling cream may be employed to mitigate.
Since there are 750mg of CO2 extracted CBD isolate per 100mL bottle, that means there is 7.5mg per ml of cream. The cream dispenses easily from the pump and had a silky texture. It had a minty, earthy smell, which was quite pleasing. Once applied to the skin, it absorbed after a few minutes. It imparts a cooling sensation to your skin immediately. Be careful not to touch your eyes or other parts of your body, which may be sensitive to the cooling effect; otherwise, you may experience some unwanted sensations.
CBD Manuka Cream review
Medterra offers manuka honey and CBD cream, which arrived in a small box. The box listed the ingredients on the side and offered some information about manuka honey . The cream comes in a small plastic tub with a screw-on lid. The label suggests the user “apply a generous amount to the desired area. Use as often as needed to soothe and nourish the skin.” The label also warns the consumer to avoid mucus membranes as well as broken or damaged skin.
They do not indicate the skin conditions this cream is designed to benefit, just that it can be used to nourish the skin. The cream has a very light beeswax smell and the texture of butter. When the cream was touched, it felt like it melted under your finger. Once applied, it left a bit of a residue, however, the residue is not sticky or unpleasant in any way. It was soft and hydrating.
A tub costs 30mL and contains 125mg of CO2 extracted CBD isolate. Since each application varies in quantity, it is hard to say exactly how many mg of CBD will be in each application. The cream contains just over 4mg of CBD per milliliter. Lab results for our batch showed 139mg of CBD per bottle. This leads to an 11% variance which is above the accepted 10%. All other parameters, including THC, were within specification.
CBD Rapid Cooling Roll-On review
The CBD Rapid Cooling Roll-On is a cooling topical infused with menthol. The roll-on comes in a small box with a window cut out so the customer may see the plastic bottle inside. The box lists the ingredients, has a QR code and provides directions for use that read: “Roll directly onto the desired area. Use as needed.” They do not state what to use the product for directly.
The topical itself smells of mint and is dispensed through a large roller ball. It is clear and thin, which means it absorbs easily and quickly. Once on the skin, it creates a cooling sensation immediately. Because it is rolled onto irregularly shaped areas of skin, it is difficult to measure the quantity of CBD per application or the number of uses per bottle.
