Best CBD Bath Bombs and Bath Salts

CBD products are often used to relax, and studies suggest it can be used to help with pain and anxiety. One popular way to enjoy CBD products is through a relaxing soak in the tub. CBD bath bombs and bath salts are becoming popular for this reason.

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound found in hemp and cannabis plants. CBD is non-intoxicating, but it’s said to have a range of health uses. Although further research on CBD needs to be conducted, the current studies are quite promising.

You’ll find that there are quite a few CBD-infused topicals out there – in other words, products that are applied to the skin, such as lotions, body oils, and creams. In part, this is because studies show that CBD might be able to help with certain skin conditions, like acne.

CBD bath bombs and bath salts are often used to improve skin or for relaxation purposes. They often contain added hydrating ingredients as well as fragrances that induce relaxation. You might want to make the most of the experience by having a warm, candlelit bath and enjoying a good book or playlist while you soak.

Not sure which CBD bath bomb to opt for? We’ve created a list of some of the best CBD bath bombs on the market.

How to choose the best CBD bath bombs

Before purchasing a new CBD product, you should consider the following factors:

  • Third-party testing: Never purchase a CBD product that has not been tested by an independent lab. Look out for the words “third-party tested.” The lab will produce a certificate of analysis (COA) which you should be able to read online. The COA should confirm the amount of CBD in each product and test for molds, pesticides, heavy metals, and other contaminants.
  • Type of CBD: CBD products fall in three general categories: isolate, broad spectrum, or full spectrum. Full-spectrum CBD contains all cannabinoids and terpenes that are found in the plant, including THC – nothing is removed. Broad-spectrum CBD is like full-spectrum CBD, except THC has been removed. CBD isolate is pure CBD – all other cannabinoids are removed.
  • Added ingredients: When it comes to any topical, you’ll probably want to choose a product that contains beneficial ingredients for your skin. Double-check the ingredients if you have any allergies or sensitivities.
  • Plant-based: Most CBD bath bombs happen to be plant-based, although some might not be. However, if you’re vegan, you might want to go for an all-vegan brand. Be sure to double-check the ingredients.
  • Price: Oral and edible CBD is usually taken on a daily basis, but you can use bath bombs as needed. It’s worth figuring out the price per miligram of CBD to see whether you’re getting value for money. However, added ingredients can make the products more expensive.
  • Dosage: Taking 100 miligrams of CBD in one go would be considered a high dosage. However, it’s a fair amount for a bath bomb. Remember that CBD struggles to enter the bloodstream when used topically; instead, it works on the skin. So, although the dosage might seem high, it’s fair for bath bombs.

No matter what CBD products you’re looking for, it’s important to opt for high-quality products. We have a detailed guide on finding decent CBD products from reputable brands.

Safety and side effects

So far, all research tells us that CBD is safe to use. It’s not intoxicating or addictive.

However, you might have some side effects after using CBD, including:

  • Fatigue
  • Changes in appetite or weight
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhea

As mentioned, CBD that’s taken topically doesn’t usually absorb into your bloodstream. This means you probably won’t experience the above side effects. If you suspect you’re having an adverse reaction to CBD, discontinue use.

If you have sensitive skin, opt for bath bombs with gentle ingredients that don’t typically cause irritation. You might want to cut a bath bomb in two and use half at a time; this means that the ingredients are less potent.

If you want to use CBD for any medical reason, it’s a good idea to talk with your doctor before doing so.

Legality

Thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp is now federally legal in the United States. CBD that is derived from hemp is also legal throughout the United States. However, the product has to have 0.3% or less THC – anything with a higher THC content is illegal in many states.

If you use full-spectrum CBD and you’re tested for drugs, you might have a detectable amount of THC in your body. In other words, you might test positive for cannabis use. This is very unlikely if you’re only using topical products like a CBD bath bomb. However, to be on the safe side, use THC-free products if you’re going to be tested for drugs.
