so to start, can you tell me a little bit about your company and its history?

Nicole Caravella – Medterra:

Yeah. So the founders were all college buddies, and they wanted to make a company that was able to bring CBD to everyone, make it accessible, make it a premium product that everybody can afford, so that’s always been the mission behind it. they originally were creating it because they were trying to help really f- friends and family to start, and then wanted to really just bring it to the masses.

Wow, that’s really cool. And where- where is your company based?

Nicole Caravella – Medterra:

We’re in Irvine, California, and then we have a partner farm in Kentucky. So all of our farm is grown there, and we’re part of the 2014 hemp, industrial hemp pilot program, so we’ve been federally backed from the beginning.

So why don’t you tell me about the range of products that you have? Maybe just a brief overview, and I see you have some over here on the table, maybe you could tell me about those.

Nicole Caravella – Medterra:

For sure. So our Tinctures and our topicals have always been our standout products. We do have 500, 1,000 and 3,000 milligrams strength for the Tinctures. the topical 750 Cooling Cream has been really, really great for people that are just needing a little bit of relief and, you know, my grandma, she’s 93, she plays tennis and uses this on her knees to help with arthritis, and it just really gets her to be able to continue going along.

Yeah, go, grandma. We branched into some more unique products in the space. So we brought on, uh, Manuka Honey salve, so it’s Manuka, honey and CBD. Helps with, people are using it for skin irritations. I’ve already put it on burns from cooking and mess up there, so just wanna apply it and help to kinda speed up the healing time.

What an interesting combo. I haven’t seen that before and I love Manuka honey, that’s really cool.

Nicole Caravella – Medterra:

Yeah, it’s pretty unique to the space. Then we have our Sleep Tablet CBD with melatonin. Good Morning capsule, this is definitely more unique to the space for sure. It’s like a coffee alternative, so B12, B6, caffeine, L-Theanine, L-Tyrosine, gives you a nice energy boost, clean energy. You don’t get all jittery from it. You don’t have a crash afterwards. And then we also do a full line of pet products. We do pet Tinctures, uh, pet tr, uh, treats. This one’s formulated for joint support, so it has glucosamine, MSM, some other ingredients that help you to expand on the CBD formula that, you know, helps touch on some other aspects of helping out your, uh, furry friends too.

I love that. Any- anytime you say pet, my heart’s sold. So I love- I love when- I love when companies do that. That’s awesome.

Definitely. And what’s great with the pet products is it’s like when you’re giving products to the pets, there’s no mind over matter kind of aspect to it. They don’t know what you’re giving them is supposed to help them, so when you see these drastic changes in them, you can really tell that the CBD is actually working.

I love it. Makes my heart melt. I just love it. so what- what’s your bestselling product? And why do you think it is?

Nicole Caravella – Medterra:

I say our 1,000 milligram Tincture and the 750 cream. Uh, we actually provide our retail locations with samples of this so customers are able to try it right there on the spot. Because you can feel it start working pretty quickly, it pretty much just you wanna- you wanna get the full product. That’s awesome. And are you guys sold throughout, uh, all over the country?

We are. We’re in all 50 states and in international.

Wow. Wow. And your company has been around for three years, is that correct?

Nicole Caravella – Medterra:

Tomorrow is actually our three-year anniversary.

Yes, for sure (laughs).

and you said your hemp is grown in Kentucky, correct?

Nicole Caravella – Medterra:

Kentucky, mm-hmm (affirmative).

Leafreport – Kristin Harrison:

Okay. Okay, great. And let’s see. So if you wouldn’t mind just talking a little bit about how you ensure your product’s quality or perhaps, third party lab testing and- and where a consumer can find that?

Nicole Caravella – Medterra:

For sure. So we do have QR codes on our products. We have all of our lab tests by batch on our website. So whatever product you purchased, you can find the COA that links right back to that. We actually have our products tested three different times, so it’s tested at the facility, to ensure it’s completely THT free before it’s sent off from the farm. Then it goes out for third party testing to verify it’s THT free, free of all heavy metals, pesticides and solvents. And then, it is tested again in its final product stage. So definitely, wanna be completely transparent with our customers, let them know that we’re doing our due diligence to bring them a quality, premium product that they can trust.

That’s great. That’s great. I- I love that. And so what- what would your recommendation be? Or what’s your favorite product? Maybe for someone who hasn’t used CBD before, what- what-

Nicole Caravella – Medterra:

For sure.

… what’s your like you have to try this?

Nicole Caravella – Medterra:

My favorite is honestly the Good Mornings. These are just not great only in the morning, I like to take ’em in the afternoon. After lunch, you have a little lull, you need that pick me up, so I… this is definitely my favorite product. for introductory, it’s great too because you can feel the effects from one dose. So sometimes, people will take something and you don’t necessarily get that effect right away, just dep- depending on what you’re taking it for. You might need a bigger, longer regime of it. But with this product, you do feel it working from the first dose.

So, and what- what do you… what’s your opinion about? I know you guys have been around for a while before CBD became a thing, so you… maybe you are one of the pioneers in this business. What- what’s your opinion about where the industry’s headed and what’s happening with- with it right now, with the legality, et cetera?

Nicole Caravella – Medterra:

So we, again, always being transparent with our customers, we make sure that everything we’re doing is compliant with now and what’s coming, so we’re very, you know, in the know and getting information about what could be coming down the pipeline for FDA and all of that. So we’ll definitely be a company that will be able to stick around through whatever the FDA rulings end up being. we just wanna do everything right and be compliant, and make sure people are getting what they’re being told they’re getting.
