Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Hi, my name is Courtney Quinn here with the Leafreport at the USA CBD Expo in Miami and I’m here with Jeff from Urth CBD. How are you doing Jeff?
Urth CBD – Jeff Ane: I’m doing well. How are you?
Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: I’m good, thank you. So tell us a little bit about your company and its history.
Urth CBD – Jeff Ane: Urth’s been around for about a year and a half. We’ve only been to market for about five months, but a year and a half ago we started doing market research on CBD and we’ve seen that there was a lot of CBD companies out that weren’t doing it what we thought to be the right way, so we did a lot of homework on what the market needed and we really wanted to come to market with a product that would help people.
So we found distillate, which is a form of CBD that has all the other cannabinoids in it and we started to design our our products around that. We really wanted to get into the health and wellness and we really wanted the consumer to get the best bang for their buck, so we came in with a better product for cheaper pricing to help the consumer.
Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Well, that’s awesome. Can you tell us a little bit about your manufacturing process?
Urth CBD – Jeff Ane: All of our product is sourced from Oregon from agricultural licensed hemp farm up there. From there it’s shipped to our manufacturing facility up in Malibu, and there it’s mixed and distracted in cleaning rooms and mixed with terpenes or hemp oil depending on what the product is or our lotions. It’s all done there.
Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Cool. How do you extract the CBD?
Urth CBD – Jeff Ane: I don’t personally extract it, but at the hemp farm in Oregon they CO2 extract everything from their hemp products.
Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Very nice. How do you ensure the product’s quality, purity, and cleanliness? What controls do you have in place?
Urth CBD – Jeff Ane: The farm sends us the third-party lab result, and then once we receive the raw distillate we send that off to a lab to make sure that their third-party lab results match up with our third-party lab results, and from there as long as they match up we send them to our cleaning room to start being processed for our products.
Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Oh, great. Tell us about the range of products and highlights of each product family.
Urth CBD – Jeff Ane: Well, we have lotions, tinctures, icy hot, vapables, cartridges. The cartridges seem to be a favorite in the marketplace. It’s not a fix, but you get more relief much quicker with the inhalants, and so that’s kind of like what we’ve been specializing in.
Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Okay, great. Would you say that’s your best selling product or what would be your best selling product?
Urth CBD – Jeff Ane: Definitely the cartridges are our best selling product. We probably sell 500 to one, so the cartridges are outselling everything hands down. Which was a really big surprise to me because thinking health and wellness, not a lot of people want to inhale something into their lungs, but people are in pain and they want fast-acting relief and they found that with our cartridges. So we ended up doing something really well with something that I wasn’t expecting to do as well.
Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: 500 to one, wow.
Urth CBD – Jeff Ane: Yeah.
Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: What are your recommendations for the beginner user? Someone who has heard about CBD and is wondering where to start, is worried about legalities, efficacy, or safety issues.
Urth CBD – Jeff Ane: I would just look into something that’s a full spectrum, especially if you’re in real pain. Obviously, if you’re being drug tested for your job, even though CBD can be full spectrum, usually you have the legal limits of THC, which is 0.3. If you consume enough of a full-spectrum product, you could test dirty, so just be mindful of that. But a full-spectrum product is going to deliver way more results than any kind of isolate product.
Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Oh, okay. Very nice. What sets you apart from other companies and brands and what makes you unique?
Urth CBD – Jeff Ane: We try to go with really clean packaging. We go with the white just to show that we’re more of a medical brand. We the full spectrum and not a ton of people do do the full spectrum. We don’t use any MCT oils. Everything we use is all natural. All our terpenes are cannabis derived and all of our tinctures have hemp oil, so nothing we use has any filler of like any non-hemp raw material.
Leafreport – Courtney Quinn: Very nice. Well, it’s been great talking with you. Thank you for sharing with us, Jeff.
Urth CBD – Jeff Ane: Yeah, thank you for having me.
