Celebrities and CBD

The therapeutic promise of Cannabidiol (CBD) is so great that its projected growth as an industry continues to skyrocket. Biotech companies and beauty brands alike are both working diligently to uncover as many different applications of CBD possible. And with the “green rush” in full swing other entrepreneurs are now eagerly eyeing CBD—namely, celebrities.

Eager to learn more? We’ve taken a look at some of our favorite CBD lines (and products!) launched by celebrities below.

The Martha Stewart line from Canopy Growth

Martha Stewart

This line of CBD products is definitely geared towards foodies. Offerings include gourmet CBD gummies, flavored tinctures and CBD softgels. All of the products used in Martha’s line are made with CBD isolate. However there aren’t any lab results available for viewing on the site yet, which is a little disappointing.

Stewart draws on her culinary inspiration to give this line a luxurious feel. Some flavors, like Meyer Lemon, are “inspired by flavors from my garden,” says Stewart. Others like the seasonal holiday sampler box are inspired by the French confection pâte de fruits, yielding unique flavors such as Passionfruit, Calamondin and Quince.

The CBD gummy boxes are also designed with a clean, botanical aesthetic in mind, making them great gifts for the CBD lovers in your life.

Kristen Bell: Happy Dance

Kristen Bell

Actress Kristen Bell has always been open regarding her struggles with anxiety. It’s probably also why she’s admitted to being a huge CBD fan, so much so she decided to start her own CBD line: Happy Dance.

Happy Dance is, well, the happy result of a partnership between Bell and the CBD line Lord Jones. The line is geared towards moms (“Why moms? Because if anyone could use a little more calm in their routines, it’s moms”) and features colorful, bright aesthetics that are bold and playful.

The Happy Dance line is full spectrum and has a lab test results section available on the site. Products are made in the USA, tested in third party ISO certified labs, are vegan and cruelty free. They’re also made without the infamous synthetic chemical culprits, aka Formaldehyde, parabens, phthalates, Propylene Glycol, sulfates, synthetic dyes and fragrances.

Three main products are available: CBD coconut melt, CBD body butter and a CBD bath bomb. The coconut melt is extremely versatile; it can be used as a hair mask, skin moisturizer, makeup remover and so much more.

Nathen Maxwell: Ao Hemp

Nathen Maxwell

AO Hemp was founded by Nathen and Shelby Maxwell. Nathen is the bassist for the American Celtic band Flogging Molly.

You can find tinctures, capsules, topicals and edibles available on the site. Everything here is full spectrum, and lab test results are easy to find and access. These capsules are also quite potent, clocking in 750 mg or 1500 mg of CBD depending on the size of the bottle.

Shavo Odadjian: 22Red

Shavo Odadjian

System Of A Down Bassist Shavo Odadjian launched his own cannabis brand in 2018: 22Red.

“Everyone and their mother has been asking me to do strains for them,” he said in an interview with Phoenix New Times.

Odadjian’s line offers both THC rich and CBD products geared towards millennials. The hemp line features two different kinds of CBD products: CBD vape pens and tinctures. Each vape pen includes a cartridge (0.3 or 0.5g) as well as a battery and is available in a number of different flavors. Vape pens are broad spectrum; pesticide, heavy metal and solvent free; are made with natural botanical flavors and use USA grown hemp.

The tinctures, on the other hand, are CBD isolate in MCT coconut oil. Each bottle contains a potent 3,000 mg of CBD, yielding 100 mg per serving—making it one of the most potent CBD isolate tinctures we’ve seen. The brand claims to test all products with a third party but doesn’t have lab results available on the site.

Jay-Z: MONOGRAM

Jay-Z

Rapper Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter turned heads when he announced the launch of his new cannabis brand, MONOGRAM, earlier this fall. Carter paired up with Caliva, the largest vertically-integrated cannabis company in California, for the launch.

“We are incredibly excited about Mr. Carter introducing MONOGRAM to the world,” says Caliva CEO Dennis O’Malley. “When we partnered with Mr. Carter in 2019, it was our shared mission to create products that would redefine our category. We’ve worked over the past year to bring Mr. Carter’s vision to life and are looking forward to sharing more in the weeks to come.”

MONOGRAM promises to focus on, “…careful strain selection, meticulous cultivation practices and uncompromising quality” with the hopes of redefining what the cannabis experience can look like for consumers.

Megan Rapinoe: Mendi

Megan Rapinoe

One of the most avid groups of CBD enthusiasts out there are athletes. It’s easy to see why; after all, CBD has been purported to help athletes with inflamed muscles, muscle recovery and joint pain.

Professional soccer player Megan Rapinoe seems to be one such enthusiast. She’s such a big believer in CBD that she recently founded Mendi, a CBD line geared towards athletes.

The Portland-based brand also has a unique approach to categorizing their CBD products. They have a “Base” line of products which are completely THC free, which is a much needed option for many athletes worried about drug testing. They also offer a “Core” line of full spectrum products including gummies, tinctures, topicals like creams and sticks as well as bath salts.

Willie Nelson: Willie’s Remedy

Willie Nelson

Country singer Willie Nelson is a longtime advocate and fan of cannabis. His journeys across America serve as the inspiration behind his hemp product line, Willie’s Remedy.

You’ll find CBD tinctures alongside other items like CBD teas and coffees here. Products are full spectrum (yay!) and have Certificates of Analyses available on the site as well, though you have to input a lot number to view them.
