The Bottom Line

Transparency & AccuracyIcon

Transparency & Accuracy

4.5

The accuracy variances for our Vida products concerning potency are good overall, with three checked products testing below the acceptable 10% variance limit and one product over the 10% limit allowed. Purity test results for foreign contaminants, such as pesticides, heavy metals, and solvents, were passed by all four checked products. Certificates of Analysis are unavailable for review online at this time; however, all independent lab results for potency and purity can be viewed here, as provided by one of Vida’s affiliates. Vida was founded in 2010, with no FDA warnings or BBB complaints to date.

Hemp QualityIcon

Hemp Quality

4.4

While there is not detailed information on their website about their company or their extraction method, Vida’s hemp is sourced from U.S. farms in Pueblo, Colorado and Seattle, Washington that, use strict natural farming practices and make small, handmade batches, but are not certified as organic, according to the brand. They offer isolate, broad spectrum and full spectrum CBD products that are promised by the company to be pesticide-free and non-GMO. All purity tests for foreign contaminants, such as pesticides, solvents, and heavy metals, were passed for all checked products; however, no lab results are posted on the website for customer review at this time.

Their CO2 extracted products range from 5 mg to 3500 mg of total CBD, and many Vida products are further formulated with easily digestible MCT oil.

Customer ExperienceIcon

Customer Experience

3.0

Their website is easy to navigate and straightforward with a CBD blog under the “Resources” heading on the main menu that explains the benefits of CBD, CBG, and CBN. There is an “FAQ” link under the “Support” heading at the bottom of every page for easy reference by consumers, but no information is listed about their extraction process or link to lab reports. There is a link to the “Refund Policy” and consumers can easily “Shop All” products at once or by category using the “Products” heading on the main menu. There is a “Contact Us” link on the top left of every page on their website, or users can navigate to the “Solutions” heading at the bottom; however, no responses were received to our multiple customer service inquiries.

Price & DiscountsIcon

Methodology

  • Read our methodology for more details about ranking and our review process.

    Data Collection and Rating

In our review process, we receive CBD products directly from the brand to personally review ourselves, so we can give you an accurate idea of the packaging, potency, taste, smell, feel, and overall experience of each product. We also discuss the company’s shipping and returns policy.
Another important step we take is reviewing each individual product for details such as the certificate of analysis to assess the CBD level and CBD variance, THC level, and contaminants.
We take all factors into account and give each CBD brand and each CBD product a score for each parameter.
All of the information we collect is generated into a concise, easy to read review and put into our extensive database. Keep in mind, our reviews are never intended to substitute or act as medical advice.

    Product DataBase

Our database collects key information for each product, including CBD product prices, potencies, third-party lab test results, flavors, additional ingredients, hemp quality, extract types, product variety, and more.
We then use all of this combined data to give each brand and product a standardized rating out of five points.

    Brand Review Process

There are many factors we consider when we review the quality, integrity and products of a CBD brand. We rate each brand on several factors including:

    • Transparency & accuracy. It is important that a CBD brand is forthcoming with who makes up their team, their mission, manufacturing process, and lab reports. Also, we look for the accuracy of the CBD and THC levels in the products’ lab reports.
    • Hemp quality. Hemp quality can be a deciding factor between a good CBD brand and a great CBD brand. We look for organic and sustainable farming methods with attention to detail in each manufacturing step.
    • The variety of products they offer. We like to see several CBD product types and flavors.
    • Customer service. It is essential that each CBD company has multiple ways to connect to customer service to ask questions. We look for speedy and complete responses.
    • Price and discounts. Competitive pricing is an important aspect of being a top-rated CBD brand. We also look for discount options and ways to save on your order.

    Market Reports

Another way Leafreport stands out from other CBD review websites is our evidence-based market reports. For each one, we purchase different types of CBD products and send them for independent lab testing to check whether their levels of CBD and other cannabinoids match the label.

    Information Updates

Writers and editors conduct our reviews and our database on an annual basis but continually make updates throughout the year. We maintain frequent contact with brands and highlight any changes in offerings.

    The Review Team

Our review team is made up of a wide chain of qualified CBD review writers, some with medical degrees, some with statistics backgrounds, others with ample experience in the CBD arena. Each and every one of our CBD reviews are approved by our medical reviewer before being published on our website to ensure all information is accurate.

    Conflicts of Interest

While Leafreport does have partnerships with many of the reviewed brands, we manage potential conflicts of interest by maintaining a wall between our content and business operations. This wall is designed to prevent our writers and the review process from being influenced or impacted by our business partnerships. This way, all reviews can provide an unbiased review that serves the interests of our users.

  • About the Company

Founded in 2010, Vida and their partnership group has decades of combined experience in the regulated cannabis industry, with “partners who have deep knowledge of corporate building and management, operating vertical cannabis extraction and manufacturing facilities in several different markets.” Vida is a member of the National Hemp Association in the U.S., and according to their website, considers compliance as the ultimate top factor when choosing what CBD products are right for each individual consumer.

They’ve been committed to delivering “effective cannabinoid-based products” for a decade, and Vida has built their brand by filling voids they observe in the current CBD and cannabinoid market. In addition, it is their noble aim to recycle 85% of all materials in order to reduce their carbon emissions and create a more sustainable inventory, according to the brand. As a part of our reputation check, we check BBB, FDA warnings, and more to see if there are any complaints or warnings about the brand. We didn’t find FDA warnings for Vida or any BBB complaints to date.

    Transparency

Independent CBD testing is a necessary quality and safety control tool to ensure that the labeled amounts of CBD and THC are identical to the contents of each final product a customer receives. Vida claims to have all of their products tested for potency and purity by a third party lab; however, to the best of our knowledge, their lab results are not posted online for customer review at this time.

All of the products received by Vida were, in fact, third party tested for potency, and purity tests for foreign contaminants such as pesticides, solvents, or heavy metals were passed. All of the independent lab results regarding VIDA potency and purity can be viewed here, as provided by one of Vida’s affiliates —after several unanswered inquiries to customer service.

    Accuracy

Using these independent lab results for potency and purity provided by one of Vida’s affiliates, we were able to match our four ordered products with independent third party lab results for potency and purity from foreign contaminants. Vida does not have links to lab test results or COAs available for public access on their website at this time. All checked products were confirmed by independent third party testing to contain less than the legal 0.3% limit of THC, or no THC was detected.

As for the highest accuracy variance in this order, the 500 mg Happy Pet bacon tincture tested with 561.67 total mg of CBD, which is a 12.33% accuracy variance and over the acceptable 10% limit. The lowest accuracy variance was found in the 600 mg labeled edible Immunity gummies, which tested with 612.76 total mg of CBD or 25.53 mg per serving size of 1 gummy. This is an accuracy variance of 2.12% and well below the 10% variance limit allowed.

    Reputation

The brand’s growth has continued steadily for the past ten years since it was established. Vida has inspired many loyal users of the brand to leave voluntary feedback, as well as product use suggestions, on each corresponding product page online.

    Manufacturing Process

Vida is a legal, authorized grower of American hemp. Their broad spectrum, full spectrum, and isolate CBD products are extracted using a CO2 process, but this is not clearly explained on the website. Many products are further formulated with easily digestible MCT oil as the carrier for maximum bioavailability, according to the corresponding product pages.

After formulation, the next step is independent third party CBD testing, which is an important safety and quality control measure that should be utilized by Vida to ensure that the labeled potency of CBD and THC matches the contents and remains free of foreign contaminants. While they claim to conduct independent potency and limited purity lab testing for all of their products, those independent results are not available at this time and are not posted online for reference.

Vida offers a broad variety of isolate, broad spectrum, and full spectrum CBD products that include topicals and skincare, tinctures, ready-to-use vape pens and refill cartridges, edibles and beverages —like powdered drink mix, power greens superfood, gummies, and tea, as well as softgels, capsules, vitamins, pet items, and NXTGEN products targeted specifically to athletes. Their CO2 extracted products range from 5 mg to 3500 mg of total CBD, but Vida’s method of extraction is unknown at this time. They are average priced when compared to other sustainably grown CBD brands, with an overall price point average of $.09 per mg of CBD and prices between $9.99 and $109.99.

    Vida CBD Tinctures Overview

These CO2 extracted, broad spectrum and full spectrum CBD tinctures by Vida are formulated with MCT oil for faster bioavailability, and are suggested by the company for oral or sublingual use. Many utilize Vida’s proprietary NanoZorb technology, while others are water-soluble as noted throughout. They undergo extraction of some type and can be added to beverages or food, per the brand’s website. Several potencies and formulations are offered, as well as a number of flavors and a natural variety.

    Buying Experience

Their straightforward website is easy to navigate, with each product page providing comprehensive information for each item in that category, as well as specific ingredients, potencies, and uses recommended by the company; however, there is no information about their extraction method on the website, to the best of our knowledge. They have a CBD blog under the “Resources” heading on the main menu that explains the benefits of CBD and other cannabinoids and provides information about the effects of certain Vida products and strains.

There is an “FAQs” link on the bottom of each page for easy reference by consumers. There is also a link to “Returns & Refunds” at the bottom of each page. As mentioned earlier, none of their third party potency lab results are currently available online; however, all independent lab results for potency and purity can be viewed here, as kindly provided by one of Vida’s affiliates.

Customer service is reported to be available via email, phone and online message, according to their website, through the “Contact Us” link on the main menu; however, the phone number was not answered by Vida and voicemail was not an option. However, they were contacted four times via online message, and twice via email, regarding their lab results for the ordered products. No replies to the online messages or emails have been received.

An order and shipping confirmation email with tracking was received upon order checkout, but users can also create “My Account” and “Login” to check the status of their order. The order arrived via Priority Mail in a brown box that was discreet, and all products were securely packaged inside. Vida carries a 30 day money-back guarantee on all products, as explained in the online. The bottom line is that Vida currently lacks any customer service team, and there are no accessible independent lab reports at this time, despite our best efforts.
