Why you can trustlogo

  • Leafreport's mission is to provide accurate, objective, and valuable content for CBD, which is why we're transparent about our review process  and  how we rate products and brands. We may receive compensation. Here’s how we make money.
  • Our review is consumer-focused only and we do not check or take a stand regarding medical effects.
  • Statements regarding CBD products have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
  • Please advise your physician prior to each use of CBD.

The Bottom Line

My review of Uncanna is ok based on their certified organic hemp quality, personable customer service, the effortless buying experience, and low prices per mg of CBD. They do publish the exact potency for each product directly on each corresponding product page on the main website, as well as in their centralized “Lab Results” hub. However, no purity test reports are available, so there’s room for improvement. Uncanna also carries a fairly wide range of CBD potencies and extracts, ranging from 25 mg up to 2500 mg in full spectrum, broad spectrum, and isolate options.

They offer premium quality, certified organic CBD products that are available in tinctures, softgels, topicals, and a pet item. Their products range from $40 to $145, with an average price point of $.07, meaning that their product prices are lower than average, when compared to other organic brands in the market. Uncanna offers standard shipping for $3.99, or a shipping fee is calculated at checkout which depends upon the shipping method. A refund is available on all unopened products, or exchanges are allowed.

The accuracy variances for these Uncanna products vary widely concerning potency, with two products testing above the 10% variance limit, and one product testing higher than the level allowed, so Uncanna can improve their potency accuracy. In addition, their products did not undergo all standard purity testing for residuals, solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, and other contaminants, to the best of our knowledge. No synthetic ingredients are used in these certified organic Uncanna CBD products, according to the company.

Pros: Cons:
  • Multiple discount programs
  • Give back to community in myriad of ways
  • Reasonable shipping rates and options
  • Potency accuracy variances need improvement
  • Inadequate purity testing for all products
  • No free or international shipping

Methodology

  • Read our methodology for more details about ranking and our review process.

    Data Collection and Rating

In our review process, we receive CBD products directly from the brand to personally review ourselves, so we can give you an accurate idea of the packaging, potency, taste, smell, feel, and overall experience of each product. We also discuss the company’s shipping and returns policy.
Another important step we take is reviewing each individual product for details such as the certificate of analysis to assess the CBD level and CBD variance, THC level, and contaminants.
We take all factors into account and give each CBD brand and each CBD product a score for each parameter.
All of the information we collect is generated into a concise, easy to read review and put into our extensive database. Keep in mind, our reviews are never intended to substitute or act as medical advice.

    Product DataBase

Our database collects key information for each product, including CBD product prices, potencies, third-party lab test results, flavors, additional ingredients, hemp quality, extract types, product variety, and more.
We then use all of this combined data to give each brand and product a standardized rating out of five points.

    Brand Review Process

There are many factors we consider when we review the quality, integrity and products of a CBD brand. We rate each brand on several factors including:

    • Transparency & accuracy. It is important that a CBD brand is forthcoming with who makes up their team, their mission, manufacturing process, and lab reports. Also, we look for the accuracy of the CBD and THC levels in the products’ lab reports.
    • Hemp quality. Hemp quality can be a deciding factor between a good CBD brand and a great CBD brand. We look for organic and sustainable farming methods with attention to detail in each manufacturing step.
    • The variety of products they offer. We like to see several CBD product types and flavors.
    • Customer service. It is essential that each CBD company has multiple ways to connect to customer service to ask questions. We look for speedy and complete responses.
    • Price and discounts. Competitive pricing is an important aspect of being a top-rated CBD brand. We also look for discount options and ways to save on your order.

    Market Reports

Another way Leafreport stands out from other CBD review websites is our evidence-based market reports. For each one, we purchase different types of CBD products and send them for independent lab testing to check whether their levels of CBD and other cannabinoids match the label.

    Information Updates

Writers and editors conduct our reviews and our database on an annual basis but continually make updates throughout the year. We maintain frequent contact with brands and highlight any changes in offerings.

    The Review Team

Our review team is made up of a wide chain of qualified CBD review writers, some with medical degrees, some with statistics backgrounds, others with ample experience in the CBD arena. Each and every one of our CBD reviews are approved by our medical reviewer before being published on our website to ensure all information is accurate.

    Conflicts of Interest

While Leafreport does have partnerships with many of the reviewed brands, we manage potential conflicts of interest by maintaining a wall between our content and business operations. This wall is designed to prevent our writers and the review process from being influenced or impacted by our business partnerships. This way, all reviews can provide an unbiased review that serves the interests of our users.

  • About the Company

Uncanna prides itself on offering premium quality full spectrum, broad spectrum, and isolate CBD products from certified organic, non-GMO, pesticide free, local Colorado farms, according to the company. They have a mission to “give back to their community, take action for positive change through political advocacy, and encourage linking up with solid people in a positive environment,” according to their company website. They are heavily involved in veteran advocacy throughout their home state and nationwide.

    Transparency

Independent CBD testing is a vital quality and safety control measure to ensure that the labeled amounts of CBD and THC are very close to the contents of each final product a customer receives. All of the products in my Uncanna order were third party tested for CBD and THC potency, but none were tested for purity due to their certified organic designation, according to the company.

Customers can view all available third party lab reports for the Uncanna CBD product catalog on each individual product page online, as well as through a centralized “Lab Results (COAs)” link:

    undefined

    Accuracy

Using each product’s corresponding product page, it was easy to match my products to the independent third party lab reports provided. As far as the highest accuracy variances in this order, both the 1000 mg pumpkin spice isolate tincture and the 1980 mg softgels demonstrated a 12.8% accuracy variance, which is above the acceptable 10% limit.

The lowest accuracy variance was found in the 2500 mg full spectrum tincture, which tested at 2712 total mg of CBD, or 8.48%, which is below the 10% variance limit allowed. All products were confirmed by third party testing to contain less than the legal 0.3% limit of THC; however, no purity tests for heavy metals, residual pesticides and solvents, and yeasts and molds were conducted, according to the independent third party lab reports.

    Reputation

Established in 1994, Uncanna is a veteran owned and operated company that “provides high quality CBD products designed for efficacy and serves as a leading, trusted voice of advocacy,” according to the “About Us” section on the main company website:

    undefined

They are major advocates for use of non-intoxicating CBD products by members of the military, and Uncanna is committed to eliminating barriers to alternative therapies and to giving back to the communities they serve.

According to the company, their products are the direct result of community input, including “thousands of our customers who have told us what does and does not work for them.” This collected data is used by Uncanna, per their website, to create and offer new CBD products. They then give back to this community through their “GIVING BACK” programs and partnerships, encouraging their Uncanna customers to donate and give back when and how they can.

    Manufacturing Process

Uncanna is a legal, authorized grower of premium, certified organic U.S. hemp, sourced locally from Colorado farms. Uncanna’s hemp is extracted using a clean CO2 process, and then formulated with easily digestible MCT oil as the carrier for maximum bioavailability.

After formulation, the next step is independent third party CBD testing, which is an important quality and safety control measure utilized by Uncanna to ensure that the labeled potency of CBD and THC matches the contents. They conduct rigorous independent potency lab testing for all of their products and post the highly accurate results online. At this time, however, purity tests for the Uncanna product catalog are unavailable to consumers.

They offer premium quality, certified organic, broad spectrum CBD products that are available in tinctures, topicals, softgels, and a pet tincture. Their products range from 25 mg to 2500 mg, and are lower priced than comparable premium brands, with an average price point of $.07 per mg of CBD.

CBD Isolate Menthol Cream, 500 mg, 50 ml review

It is white in color, applies smoothly, and leaves no residue. The viscosity is similar to a lotion, with a thinner texture than a traditional topical cream. It comes in a convenient pump for easy application to targeted areas, both large and small. The company recommends using the cream for sore, tired, or aching muscles, but we have not tested these outcomes for ourselves. Uncanna guarantees this cream is THC free, and includes only isolated CBD.

They are small in size and golden amber in color, with a softgel consistency and a coated texture to aid in swallowing. There were 2235 total mg of CBD in this bottle of full spectrum softgels, which amounts to 74.5 mg of CBD per serving size of 2 softgels. The softgels are labeled as containing 66 mg of CBD. This is above the acceptable variance at 12.8%. This product was not purity tested for contaminants, to the best of our knowledge; although a THC content of less than 0.3% was confirmed.
