The Bottom Line

Transparency & AccuracyIcon

Transparency & Accuracy

3.5

The accuracy variances of the Try The CBD products regarding potency have room for improvement. Limited purity tests were performed, according to the lab results available under their “Certificates of Analysis.” Try The CBD has a centralized hub with all potency and purity lab reports on the main menu. Founded in 2015, we found no FDA warnings or BBB complaints to date.

Hemp QualityIcon

Hemp Quality

3.8

Their hemp is sustainably sourced from Colorado farms, and they offer isolate, broad spectrum and full spectrum CBD products that are advertised by the company to be pesticide-free, all natural, and non-GMO. However, purity tests for foreign contaminants, such as pesticides, solvents, microbials, and heavy metals, were not conducted on the majority of our five checked products.

Variety of ProductsIcon

Variety of Products

4.4

Try The CBD offers a wide variety of isolate, broad spectrum and full spectrum CBD products which include tinctures, topicals, softgels, capsules, vape cartridges, single-use vape pens, vape juice, pet tincture, edible gummies, isolate shatter, crystals, and four bundles. They also offer CBG and CBN products. These range from 30 mg to 5000 mg of total CBD,  and each product is extracted using a CO2 process before being tested by an independent third party lab. Many products are further formulated with easily digestible MCT oil, with the absolute exception of all vaping products among others.

Methodology

  • Read our methodology for more details about ranking and our review process.

    Data Collection and Rating

In our review process, we receive CBD products directly from the brand to personally review ourselves, so we can give you an accurate idea of the packaging, potency, taste, smell, feel, and overall experience of each product. We also discuss the company’s shipping and returns policy.
Another important step we take is reviewing each individual product for details such as the certificate of analysis to assess the CBD level and CBD variance, THC level, and contaminants.
We take all factors into account and give each CBD brand and each CBD product a score for each parameter.
All of the information we collect is generated into a concise, easy to read review and put into our extensive database. Keep in mind, our reviews are never intended to substitute or act as medical advice.

    Product DataBase

Our database collects key information for each product, including CBD product prices, potencies, third-party lab test results, flavors, additional ingredients, hemp quality, extract types, product variety, and more.
We then use all of this combined data to give each brand and product a standardized rating out of five points.

    Brand Review Process

There are many factors we consider when we review the quality, integrity and products of a CBD brand. We rate each brand on several factors including:

    • Transparency & accuracy. It is important that a CBD brand is forthcoming with who makes up their team, their mission, manufacturing process, and lab reports. Also, we look for the accuracy of the CBD and THC levels in the products’ lab reports.
    • Hemp quality. Hemp quality can be a deciding factor between a good CBD brand and a great CBD brand. We look for organic and sustainable farming methods with attention to detail in each manufacturing step.
    • The variety of products they offer. We like to see several CBD product types and flavors.
    • Customer service. It is essential that each CBD company has multiple ways to connect to customer service to ask questions. We look for speedy and complete responses.
    • Price and discounts. Competitive pricing is an important aspect of being a top-rated CBD brand. We also look for discount options and ways to save on your order.

    Market Reports

Another way Leafreport stands out from other CBD review websites is our evidence-based market reports. For each one, we purchase different types of CBD products and send them for independent lab testing to check whether their levels of CBD and other cannabinoids match the label.

    Information Updates

Writers and editors conduct our reviews and our database on an annual basis but continually make updates throughout the year. We maintain frequent contact with brands and highlight any changes in offerings.

    The Review Team

Our review team is made up of a wide chain of qualified CBD review writers, some with medical degrees, some with statistics backgrounds, others with ample experience in the CBD arena. Each and every one of our CBD reviews are approved by our medical reviewer before being published on our website to ensure all information is accurate.

    Conflicts of Interest

While Leafreport does have partnerships with many of the reviewed brands, we manage potential conflicts of interest by maintaining a wall between our content and business operations. This wall is designed to prevent our writers and the review process from being influenced or impacted by our business partnerships. This way, all reviews can provide an unbiased review that serves the interests of our users.

  • About the Company

There is minimal information on the website about Try The CBD as a brand on their “About Us” page, they were founded in 2015 and have six years of CBD experience and many positive customer reviews. They also do offer an affiliate program and have physical retail locations throughout Colorado. As a part of our reputation check, we check BBB, FDA warnings, and more to see if there are any complaints or warnings about the brand. We didn’t find FDA warnings for Try The CBD or any BBB complaints.

    Transparency

Independent CBD testing is a necessary quality and safety control tool to ensure that the labeled amounts of CBD and THC are identical to the contents of each final product a customer receives. Try The CBD has all of their products tested for potency by a third party lab; however, there are limited purity test results available. Tests for foreign contaminants such as pesticides, solvents, microbials, or heavy metals were not conducted for most checked products.

    Accuracy

Using the “Certificates of Analysis” link under the “Learn” heading on the main menu, we matched five ordered products with the independent third party lab results for potency and all available purity tests for foreign contaminants. All checked products were confirmed by independent third party testing to contain less than the legal 0.3% limit of THC, or no THC was detected.

As for the highest accuracy variance in this order, the 900 mg softgels tested with 1053 total mg of CBD, or 35.1 mg of CBD per serving size of one 30 mg softgel, which is a 17% accuracy variance and over the acceptable 10% limit. The lowest accuracy variance was found in the 300 mg of CBN + 900 mg of CBD tincture, which tested with 915 total mg of CBD. This is an accuracy variance of 1.6% and well below the 10% variance limit allowed.

    Reputation

Since 2015, Try The CBD has been educating consumers about the benefits of CBD, as well as informing users of new developments, such as the gain in popularity of CBN and CBG products —which they offer. Through their website and their customer service team, they are intent on nurturing the natural environment and humans by producing only sustainable, organically grown CBD products that are consistent. Their loyal customers leave voluntary reviews of various products, which are sprinkled throughout the website on product pages, as well as located on the “CBD Reviews” link under the “Learn” heading on the main menu.

    Manufacturing Process

Try The CBD is a legal, authorized grower of phytocannabinoid-rich Colorado hemp. Their isolate, broad spectrum and full spectrum CBD products are CO2 extracted, and some products are further formulated with easily digestible MCT oil as the carrier for maximum bioavailability. They use sustainable and regenerative farming practices and their products are listed as “organically grown” by the company on the product pages online.

After formulation, the next step is independent third party CBD testing, which is an important safety and quality control measure utilized by Try The CBD to ensure that the labeled potency of CBD and THC matches the contents and remains free of foreign contaminants. They conduct independent potency testing for all of their products; however, only limited purity test results are conducted at this time, according to their corresponding “Certificates of Analysis” posted online for review.

Try The CBD’s Biggest FAQs Answered

  • Is Try The CBD a good and reputable brand?
Try The CBD was founded in Colorado in 2015 and has gained over five years of consumer trust and loyalty. They use naturally phytocannabinoid-rich, Colorado-grown hemp to formulate their unique variety of CO2 extracted, CBD, CBN, and CBG products in isolate, broad spectrum and full spectrum options. • Is Try The CBD good for anxiety, pain, sleep disorder?
National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) states CBD has been shown to reduce stress in animals including rats. Other studies show that participants with social anxiety disorder (SAD) experienced overall reduction in anxiety levels after taking CBD, which inhibits an enzyme called Fatty Acid Amide Hydrolase, or FAAH, which is responsible for breaking down an endocannabinoid called Anandamide which elevates mood. Introducing CBD to those with anxiety can help decrease the reuptake of anandamide and cause it to hang around longer which could decrease anxiety symptoms and alleviate pain. CBD is also thought to stimulate serotonin receptors. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that plays an important role in mental health. Having insufficient serotonin can also contribute to anxiety. CBD may be a viable option for those suffering with anxiety disorders.

Researchers have discovered that our endocannabinoid system plays a role in regulating circadian rhythms. CBD is also known to reduce pain and anxiety, both of which can have a negative impact on sleep quality. This study found a significant decrease in insomnia symptoms for participants taking CBD and other cannabinoids. While more research is needed, CBD use as a possible sleep aid looks promising.

Try The CBD’s products are offered in broad spectrum and full spectrum, and users could experience the “Entourage Effect” that occurs when all cannabinoids are working in conjunction together in the body with full spectrum products. Try The CBD products contain less than the legal 0.3% limit of THC, or no THC will be detected.
