Methodology

  • Read our methodology for more details about ranking and our review process.

    Data Collection and Rating

In our review process, we receive CBD products directly from the brand to personally review ourselves, so we can give you an accurate idea of the packaging, potency, taste, smell, feel, and overall experience of each product. We also discuss the company’s shipping and returns policy.
Another important step we take is reviewing each individual product for details such as the certificate of analysis to assess the CBD level and CBD variance, THC level, and contaminants.
We take all factors into account and give each CBD brand and each CBD product a score for each parameter.
All of the information we collect is generated into a concise, easy to read review and put into our extensive database. Keep in mind, our reviews are never intended to substitute or act as medical advice.

    Product DataBase

Our database collects key information for each product, including CBD product prices, potencies, third-party lab test results, flavors, additional ingredients, hemp quality, extract types, product variety, and more.
We then use all of this combined data to give each brand and product a standardized rating out of five points.

    Brand Review Process

There are many factors we consider when we review the quality, integrity and products of a CBD brand. We rate each brand on several factors including:

    • Transparency & accuracy. It is important that a CBD brand is forthcoming with who makes up their team, their mission, manufacturing process, and lab reports. Also, we look for the accuracy of the CBD and THC levels in the products’ lab reports.
    • Hemp quality. Hemp quality can be a deciding factor between a good CBD brand and a great CBD brand. We look for organic and sustainable farming methods with attention to detail in each manufacturing step.
    • The variety of products they offer. We like to see several CBD product types and flavors.
    • Customer service. It is essential that each CBD company has multiple ways to connect to customer service to ask questions. We look for speedy and complete responses.
    • Price and discounts. Competitive pricing is an important aspect of being a top-rated CBD brand. We also look for discount options and ways to save on your order.

    Market Reports

Another way Leafreport stands out from other CBD review websites is our evidence-based market reports. For each one, we purchase different types of CBD products and send them for independent lab testing to check whether their levels of CBD and other cannabinoids match the label.

    Information Updates

Writers and editors conduct our reviews and our database on an annual basis but continually make updates throughout the year. We maintain frequent contact with brands and highlight any changes in offerings.

    The Review Team

Our review team is made up of a wide chain of qualified CBD review writers, some with medical degrees, some with statistics backgrounds, others with ample experience in the CBD arena. Each and every one of our CBD reviews are approved by our medical reviewer before being published on our website to ensure all information is accurate.

    Conflicts of Interest

While Leafreport does have partnerships with many of the reviewed brands, we manage potential conflicts of interest by maintaining a wall between our content and business operations. This wall is designed to prevent our writers and the review process from being influenced or impacted by our business partnerships. This way, all reviews can provide an unbiased review that serves the interests of our users.

  • About the Company

Steve’s Goods CBD was founded in 2016 in Maine by Steve Goods. Their current headquarters are in Colorado. He had originally discovered the benefits of CBD in Colorado, and struggled to find high-quality CBD products on the east coast, which inspired him to create his own company. His company values are fair pricing, CBD education, and quality products. As a company, they are committed to CBD research and development and spend an unspecified amount on research. Plus, 5% of profits are given to employees. Aside from Steve, there is no information about the other company team members.

As a part of our reputation check, we check BBB, FDA warnings, and more to see if there are any complaints or warnings about the brand. Currently, there are no FDA complaints for Steve’s Goods. They are BBB accredited, and have a current score of A+. They are members of the Hemp Industries Association and have won an award from Rooster’s THC Classic 2021 which recognizes Colorado’s Best Cannabis and Hemp Products.

The website has a FAQ page with questions and answers about CBD, how to use it, and their company’s growing and manufacturing process. To contact the customer care team, you can call, email, send an instant message or mail to their headquarters.

Steve’s Goods’ products are third-party tested to assess potency. We assessed the results of the 1000mg 30ml full-spectrum CBD tincture and found there is 1224mg of CBD per bottle, which is 224mg more than listed for a CBD variance of 22%. This is above the acceptable 10% CBD variance. The THC was 0.14%, which is less than the 0.3% allowable limit. This sample was not tested for contaminants.

    Manufacturing Process

Steve’s Goods’ hemp is grown on their own farm in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA. They use non-GMO hemp that is grown both organically and sustainably. The hemp they use has been carefully selected for genetics that contain high yields of CBD and other cannabinoids.

They use sheep manure as fertilizer which contains high levels of micronutrients that are needed for optimal hemp growing as well as compost teas that help to regenerate the soil and microbiota of the soil.

To extract their CBD, they use both CO2 and ethanol extraction to create a variety of hemp extracts including full-spectrum CBD, CBD isolate, delta 8, and others. All of the growing, extraction, and manufacturing is vertically integrated, meaning it occurs under one company – Steve’s Goods. This helps to control quality as well as cost.

    Steves Goods Tinctures Overview

    Buying Experience

Overall the Steve’s Goods website is a bit chaotic. Their products are categorized, but somewhat lack organization. However, the checkout process is straightforward. All orders over $75 ship for free otherwise shipping is $8.99. We received our order in a USPS priority mail box with 2-day priority shipping. The packaging was discreet and did not give any indication that there was CBD inside. The products were additionally packaged with bubble wrap and biodegradable packing peanuts. They offer returns for refunds within 30 days.

We reached out to customer service via their instant chat to ask which extraction method they used when. We received a unlated response about what CBD is and how to use it which did not answer our question. They said we had to be directed to a sales specialist to answer the question. We also asked if there was a lab report for the EndoBloom cleanser as there was no report on their lab report page and the QR code did not work. They simply told us all reports are on the lab report page. Overall, their customer service was speedy, but not very helpful.

    AM CBG Gummies review

The AM CBG Gummies come in a clear plastic bottle. Each gummy contains 5mg of CBG and there are a total of 45 gummies, totalling 225mg of CBG per bottle. They recommend you take 2 gummies before breakfast. The gummies are made with tapioca syrup, cane sugar, pectin, as well as natural colors and flavors making them vegan-friendly. Each gummy is an orange, pink, or yellow jelly cube coated in sugar. They have a sweet taste and a soft texture.

The bottle has a batch number and a QR code. We scanned the QR code to retrieve the lab results. The report showed there is 5.44mg of CBG per gummy which is 0.44mg more than listed for a variance of 9%. This is within the acceptable 10% variance. There is no detectable CBD or THC. This sample was not tested for contaminants.

This product is ideal for people who are looking for an energized, CBG gummy that is vegan.
