Why you can trustlogo

  • Leafreport's mission is to provide accurate, objective, and valuable content for CBD, which is why we're transparent about our review process  and  how we rate products and brands. We may receive compensation. Here’s how we make money.
  • Our review is consumer-focused only and we do not check or take a stand regarding medical effects.
  • Statements regarding CBD products have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
  • Please advise your physician prior to each use of CBD.

The Bottom Line

The experts at Karibo are focused on the beauty that is enhanced through the use of CBD products. All of their affordable CBD-infused skincare products have been specially formulated for the face and body. Their motto is ‘skincare for every day’. They want each one of their products to become a valued addition to your daily beauty routine.

Karibo is owned and operated by MMG Consumer Brands. They sell Karibo CBD infused skincare brands to consumers and retailers throughout the United States at a higher price than the market average of $0.15 per milligram. Currently, they sell only five skincare products but they hope to grow the brand’s selection significantly in the near future, according to a customer service representative that I talked too when I chatted with the company on their website.

All of their products feature a 30 day money back guarantee. They also offer free shipping if you purchase more than $30 of product. At this time, they do not ship outside the USA.

Products undergo third party testing and the certificates of analysis are posted online. You can also scan the product using your smartphone to be directed to the lab results online.

The products sold by Karibo are made from broad spectrum CBD so they contain absolutely no THC. They are, however, brimming with all of the other cannabinoids and terpenes found in hemp.

Karibo relies on Colorado retailers for all of their hemp. They obtain it from several distributors. CO2 extraction, the gold standard of all extraction processes, is used to pull the cannabinoids from the hemp plants and ensure no solvent residue remains in the final product.

Pros: Cons:
  • COA’s are published online and you can also obtain them by scanning the product’s label with your smartphone
  • Gluten free
  • Non-GMO
  • No animal testing
  • 30 day money-back guarantee
  • Hemp is not certified organic
  • Only offers limited topicals
  • High price in comparison to other CBD brands

Methodology

  • Read our methodology for more details about ranking and our review process.

    Data Collection and Rating

In our review process, we receive CBD products directly from the brand to personally review ourselves, so we can give you an accurate idea of the packaging, potency, taste, smell, feel, and overall experience of each product. We also discuss the company’s shipping and returns policy.
Another important step we take is reviewing each individual product for details such as the certificate of analysis to assess the CBD level and CBD variance, THC level, and contaminants.
We take all factors into account and give each CBD brand and each CBD product a score for each parameter.
All of the information we collect is generated into a concise, easy to read review and put into our extensive database. Keep in mind, our reviews are never intended to substitute or act as medical advice.

    Product DataBase

Our database collects key information for each product, including CBD product prices, potencies, third-party lab test results, flavors, additional ingredients, hemp quality, extract types, product variety, and more.
We then use all of this combined data to give each brand and product a standardized rating out of five points.

    Brand Review Process

There are many factors we consider when we review the quality, integrity and products of a CBD brand. We rate each brand on several factors including:

    • Transparency & accuracy. It is important that a CBD brand is forthcoming with who makes up their team, their mission, manufacturing process, and lab reports. Also, we look for the accuracy of the CBD and THC levels in the products’ lab reports.
    • Hemp quality. Hemp quality can be a deciding factor between a good CBD brand and a great CBD brand. We look for organic and sustainable farming methods with attention to detail in each manufacturing step.
    • The variety of products they offer. We like to see several CBD product types and flavors.
    • Customer service. It is essential that each CBD company has multiple ways to connect to customer service to ask questions. We look for speedy and complete responses.
    • Price and discounts. Competitive pricing is an important aspect of being a top-rated CBD brand. We also look for discount options and ways to save on your order.

    Market Reports

Another way Leafreport stands out from other CBD review websites is our evidence-based market reports. For each one, we purchase different types of CBD products and send them for independent lab testing to check whether their levels of CBD and other cannabinoids match the label.

    Information Updates

Writers and editors conduct our reviews and our database on an annual basis but continually make updates throughout the year. We maintain frequent contact with brands and highlight any changes in offerings.

    The Review Team

Our review team is made up of a wide chain of qualified CBD review writers, some with medical degrees, some with statistics backgrounds, others with ample experience in the CBD arena. Each and every one of our CBD reviews are approved by our medical reviewer before being published on our website to ensure all information is accurate.

    Conflicts of Interest

While Leafreport does have partnerships with many of the reviewed brands, we manage potential conflicts of interest by maintaining a wall between our content and business operations. This wall is designed to prevent our writers and the review process from being influenced or impacted by our business partnerships. This way, all reviews can provide an unbiased review that serves the interests of our users.

  • About Karibo

As mentioned, Karibo is owned by MMG Consumer Brands. Shana King’s journeys and professional views have had a great bearing on the creation of Karibo. She worked as a beauty insider for over two decades and focused on the development and sale of beauty products. Her goal was always to create a top shelf skincare brand that would be an asset to women around the world. She wanted it to improve the skin’s appearance dramatically. With the Karibo brand, she is confident that her goals have been achieved. Recently, Karibo has added CBD oils and softgels to their product offerings.

The brand’s products contain only broad spectrum CBD that is 100 percent free of THC. The purpose of each product is to restore the harmony and balance of the skin. In addition, all of the skincare products contain Rosmarinus officinalis flower extract which is known to protect the skin from free radical and sun damage. They also have glycyrrhiza uralensis root extract (black licorice) which is believed to hydrate the skin and smooth wrinkles

The labels on Karibo’s skincare products are laid out very nicely. They list the ingredients and provide information on the product and instructions for use. CBD content is clearly listed so you don’t have to wonder how much each product contains

They enlist the assistance of third party laboratory testing to check for solvent residue, the presence of e. coli or yeast, and any residual organics. The overall cleanliness of the products is acceptable.

The website of Karibo is laid out nicely and easy to use. You can quickly find product information plus FAQs and information about the company.

    Leafreport’s market reports score

Topicals report – Karibo received a «B» score in our topicals products report where we tested 40 different topical products in an independent lab.

    Manufacturing Process

Karibu obtains all of their hemp from growers in Colorado. They then use CO2 extraction to pull the cannabinoids from the hemp plant. CO2 extraction is eco-friendly and organic solvent free. All THC is removed from the product but the hemp plant’s cannabinoids and terpenes remain in the product.

They put all products through third party laboratory testing. You can access the Certificate of Analysis (COA) on Karibo’s website or via the QR code that is printed on the product’s label.

In order to obtain the lab reports for your product, visit Karibo’s website. Go to the lab reports section of the website. Enter the batch number to look up your product’s specific reports. Karibo uses Infinite Chemical Analysis Labs to perform all of their third party laboratory testing.

They offer email or online chat if you have questions about Karibo’s products. I used the online chat feature to speak with one of Karibo’s representatives. Below, you’ll find images of the chat log. I wanted to know the source of their hemp and if it was certified by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) as truly organic. I was informed that their hemp does not have that certificate.

Karibo Beauty products are free of GMOs, parabens, sulfates, artificial colors and dyes, phthalates, titanium dioxide, preservatives, formaldehyde releasing agents and animal products. Also, animal testing is never performed on Karibo’s products. Individuals with gluten allergies will be happy to learn they are gluten free.

The company offers a 30 day money back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied. Also, they provide free shipping on all orders over $30.

Karibo’s headquarters is located in Pinecrest, Florida. Their phone number is 833-527-426. You can also contact them via their online site by filling out a form to email them or by using online chat.

Unlike many companies that only sell their products online, Karibo has partnered with CVC Pharmacies to stock their products. In addition, you can order them online.

We compared the lab results of two products: the Karibo CBD Infused Hand & Body Lotion and the Karibo CBD Infused Face Mask

When you scan the QR on the Karibo products it takes you to this page:

You can then enter the batch numbers. Unfortunately, the batch numbers of the two products that I entered did not come up. It said, “no results found”. I then decided to email Karibo to ask for the COA numbers. I waited 72 hours and they never replied.

They offer a 30 day money-back guarantee which is a bonus if you end up not liking the product.

I used the live chat feature to chat with a customer service representative. The rep was very helpful but did take a long time to offer answers. I asked a few questions about their products, lab testing, hemp sources, and if they would be expanding their product offerings but it took over an hour to complete the chat because of the delays in the answers to my questions. The length of time was frustrating.
