The Bottom Line

Ignite CBD is a relatively new but well-known company in the CBD marketplace created by social media celebrity Dan Bilzerian. Bilzerian has taken advantage of his household name and large social media following to market Ignite CBD as a trendy, high-end, elite CBD brand. Ignite CBD offers a select product line of CBD products priced from $0.06/mg to $0.18/mg. After reviewing Ignite’s prices compared to competitors across multiple products, Ignite offers products of similar strength, size, and quantity, at competitive prices, especially in tinctures (Avg price per mg CBD for tinctures: $0.06, and avg price for all products: $0.09). The buying process is quick and convenient, and the product packaging supports Bilzerian’s high-end, elite brand image. While the marketing of the products is superior, they started with a narrow range of products, but they’ve recently added more product lines. In addition, there are inconsistencies in package labeling (instructions for use, reported CBD content vs. COA, etc.). All in all, Ignite is appealing for consumers seeking trendy CBD products with brand recognition but may not be the best choice for consumers seeking a variety of competitively priced products with precise and accurate information on the package labels.

Awards

At Leafreport, we pride ourselves on conducting thorough research and examination of multiple CBD brands to bring you the most affordable, effective, and safe options on the market. By evaluating factors such as third-party lab results, strength, hemp sourcing, and costs, we have carefully curated a selection of the best CBD products for various consumption methods and health concerns. We are thrilled to announce that Ignite CBD has been recognized as a top choice in the following buying guides:

Methodology

  • Read our methodology for more details about ranking and our review process.

    Data Collection and Rating

In our review process, we receive CBD products directly from the brand to personally review ourselves, so we can give you an accurate idea of the packaging, potency, taste, smell, feel, and overall experience of each product. We also discuss the company’s shipping and returns policy.
Another important step we take is reviewing each individual product for details such as the certificate of analysis to assess the CBD level and CBD variance, THC level, and contaminants.
We take all factors into account and give each CBD brand and each CBD product a score for each parameter.
All of the information we collect is generated into a concise, easy to read review and put into our extensive database. Keep in mind, our reviews are never intended to substitute or act as medical advice.

    Product DataBase

Our database collects key information for each product, including CBD product prices, potencies, third-party lab test results, flavors, additional ingredients, hemp quality, extract types, product variety, and more.
We then use all of this combined data to give each brand and product a standardized rating out of five points.

    Brand Review Process

There are many factors we consider when we review the quality, integrity and products of a CBD brand. We rate each brand on several factors including:

    • Transparency & accuracy. It is important that a CBD brand is forthcoming with who makes up their team, their mission, manufacturing process, and lab reports. Also, we look for the accuracy of the CBD and THC levels in the products’ lab reports.
    • Hemp quality. Hemp quality can be a deciding factor between a good CBD brand and a great CBD brand. We look for organic and sustainable farming methods with attention to detail in each manufacturing step.
    • The variety of products they offer. We like to see several CBD product types and flavors.
    • Customer service. It is essential that each CBD company has multiple ways to connect to customer service to ask questions. We look for speedy and complete responses.
    • Price and discounts. Competitive pricing is an important aspect of being a top-rated CBD brand. We also look for discount options and ways to save on your order.

    Market Reports

Another way Leafreport stands out from other CBD review websites is our evidence-based market reports. For each one, we purchase different types of CBD products and send them for independent lab testing to check whether their levels of CBD and other cannabinoids match the label.

    Information Updates

Writers and editors conduct our reviews and our database on an annual basis but continually make updates throughout the year. We maintain frequent contact with brands and highlight any changes in offerings.

    The Review Team

Our review team is made up of a wide chain of qualified CBD review writers, some with medical degrees, some with statistics backgrounds, others with ample experience in the CBD arena. Each and every one of our CBD reviews are approved by our medical reviewer before being published on our website to ensure all information is accurate.

    Conflicts of Interest

While Leafreport does have partnerships with many of the reviewed brands, we manage potential conflicts of interest by maintaining a wall between our content and business operations. This wall is designed to prevent our writers and the review process from being influenced or impacted by our business partnerships. This way, all reviews can provide an unbiased review that serves the interests of our users.

    About the Company

Ignite CBD is a California based CBD company founded in September of 2018 by entrepreneur and social media celebrity Dan Bilzerian. Despite the fact that the company is in its infancy, Ignite CBD has received recognition in the CBD community and was even named as marketing one of the best CBD vape pens in America by High Times: a long running, world renowned publication that provides consumers information on cannabis cultivation, products, and other regulatory issues.

The company was given a 7/10 on transparency, accuracy, and reputation. Ignite CBD is largely transparent but does have specific transparency issues (sub rating: 7/10). At the foundation, the company supplies adequate information on means of communication, and contact information. Furthermore, the company has an extensive FAQ page with information on CBD, available products, ordering, and support. Ignite CBD excels in providing information on company leadership. The biographies and experience of the entire management team are readily available on the investor portion of Ignite CBD. When looking at the product information on labels and on the website, the company does provide information on strength of CBD, the amount of CBD per serving, consumption method, extraction method and instructions for use. The company falls short in providing easily accessible information regarding third-party lab results.

Ignite CBD received a lower rating for accuracy (sub rating 4/10). When reviewing the products, it was noted the vape pods were not labeled with information on ingredients. Additionally, the disposable vape products had conflicting dosage instructions on the packaging when compared to recommended dosing information provided on the website. Reviewing the COA revealed no microbiological impurities but did show the CBD amount for the selected product was significantly higher than what is advertised on the label (188.9 mg vs 150 mg).

Despite all the above information, Ignite CBD has a great reputation in the CBD industry due to its strategic marketing and infamous chairman and CEO, Dan Bilzerian (sub rating 10/10). The reputation of Ignite CBD was able to lift the overall transparency, accuracy, and reputation score to 7/10.

    Manufacturing Process

Information regarding the sourcing of hemp and the extraction process employed is readily available under Ignite’s FAQ page. Ignite CBD sources hemp from farms located in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. We were unable to confirm if the company or the grow sites adhere to GMP or USDA standards. All CBD products offered by Ignite are created from pure CBD isolate. To create the pure CBD isolate, Ignite utilizes short path distillation and subsequently utilizes recrystallization to purify the material. This process delivers an end product consisting of pure CBD and 0% THC. Short path distillation allows for molecular separation of CBD from other compounds of the hemp plant through a process of slow heating. The slow heating allows manufacturers to extract a highly-pure form of CBD without the need for additional solvents.

The company uses the third party, Evio Laboratories, to test all products. Evio Laboratories is an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, meaning the lab can produce accurate and precise results. ISO 17025 is considered the gold standard in the certification of testing laboratories and any products with legitimate results from an ISO 17025 company are reputable. When shopping for CBD products, it is important for brands to provide a COA to consumers. Ignite CBD does not post a certificate of analysis (COA) for products on its site, nor does the company send the latest lab results with the product shipment.

I reached out to the company to see if the company would be able to provide a COA for one of the products purchased. Ignite CBD was able to provide the most recent COA but not the COA for my specific batch. The cannabinoid test results I was provided showed only CBD. THC and other cannabinoids were absent, making the product content consistent with the use of isolate. The product being tested is marketed as having 150 mg of CBD per unit (1.5 mL per unit). However, the lab results showed a higher concentration of 188.9 mg of CBD per unit (125.9 mg of CBD per mL). It should be noted the concentration of CBD was 26% higher than advertised, well outside of the 10% threshold that most consider an acceptable variance.

Ignite’s range of products is limited to oral tinctures, toothpicks, vape cartridges, and vape pens. Furthermore, each product is only offered in one dose. The company offers a variety of flavors within the subcategories Lucid, Recharge, and Calm. Lucid, Recharge, and Calm are subcategories of products marketed to consumers looking for a particular effect. Please note, the following effects upon mood claimed for the Lucid, Recharge, and Calm products are only assertions made by Ignite and have not been evaluated by the FDA and/or endorsed by any third parties. The Lucid line is marketed to consumers looking for a product that may help them focus. The Lucid line is the most extensive, offering blood orange, apple berry, spearmint, menthol, and cinnamint flavors, as well as an unflavored option. The Recharge line is marketed to consumers needing a “boost” after a long day or hard work out. The Recharge line is available in tangerine, tropical fruit, passionfruit, and coffee flavors. Finally, the Calm line is marketed to consumers looking for a product that may help them relax. The Calm line offers lavender, pink chill, mango mint, and lemongrass flavors. Once again, statements regarding the effects of Ignite products have not been evaluated by the FDA and/or endorsed by any third parties. A high-level overview of products available from Ignite CBD can be found below.

    Buying Experience

As soon as I visited Ignite CBD’s website, the overall vibe and brand messaging became apparent. Ignite CBD highlights the potential therapeutic differences between CBD products and the variation in consumer needs at different points of the day. As a result, the company markets products grouped into one of three product lines: Recharge, Lucid, or Calm lines. Consumers can select products based upon the actual product itself (e.g., oral drops) or they can select a range of products that fall into the Recharge, Lucid, or Calm product line.

The purchase process itself was easy and hassle-free. Upon checkout, buyers can select from either economy shipping (4-7 days) for $4.01 or standard shipping (2-4 days) for $8.61. Economy shipping is complementary on any orders over $100.00. Prior to completing the purchase, Ignite CBD will verify the purchaser’s age via AgeChecker.Net.

The products are neatly packaged in a sleek, black box that displays the Ignite logo and the company slogan, “Ignite your life”. Upon opening the box, there is additional marketing material welcoming the buyer to the Ignite family and a plug for Ignite’s Instagram (@igniteCBD). Black tissue paper surrounds the products. Like the box itself, each product is packaged in sleek, black packaging and has the appearance of a high-quality product. I found myself thoroughly enjoying the unpacking process; Ignite does a phenomenal job of making the end user feel special, marketing their products in the form of an elite, high-quality brand.

Customer support is only available via an online contact us form (https://ignitecbd.co/pages/contact). I reached out to customer service to learn more about the product testing process and to see if I could receive a COA for my product. As soon as I submitted a request, I received a confirmation email from Ignite acknowledging my request and assuring me that a customer service representative will be in touch shortly. About an hour later, a customer service representative provided a detailed response outlining the testing of Ignite products and offering to provide a COA for whichever product I requested. Shortly after sending a request for the blood orange CBD vape pod, Ignite was able to provide the most recent COA for the product but was unable to provide the COA for the exact batch number attributed to my blood orange CBD vape pod.

    Products Reviewed

Ignite CBD offers products made from pure CBD isolate. Ignite CBD products are marketed under the Lucid, Recharge, and Calm lines. Each line is marketed to consumers based upon the effect they wish to experience (Focus with Lucid, Energy boost with Recharge, Relaxation with Calm). Please note, the following effects of the Lucid, Recharge, and Calm products are only assertions made by Ignite and have not been evaluated by the FDA and/or endorsed by any third parties. The products are aesthetically appealing and packaged in high-quality boxes or bags. COAs are not provided with the products.

The vape products contain detailed information on the batch, test date, and overall CBD content. Of note, the rechargeable vape products have 150 mg listed as the product content. It is unclear whether the products actually tested at exactly 150 mg or if the 150 mg listed is indicating the product tested. A detailed review of all products tested can be found below.

    CBD Oral Drops review

CBD oral drops are made from CBD, MCT oil, stevia, and other natural flavoring And are available in a 1000 mg/30mL bottle package size. Consumers can purchase CBD oral tincture in blood orange, tropical fruit, and lavender flavors or they can opt for an unflavored tincture. Ignite suggests using one-full dropper (1 mL) sublingually in the morning and evening. The labeling does not specify if there is a need to hold the oil in the mouth for a certain amount of time prior to swallowing. When testing the product, we observed a clear liquid easily pulled up in the dropper which exhibited a pleasing viscosity. The liquid was odorless, had a nice, strong fruity taste and was free of any aftertaste. The dropper included in the package is labeled in 0.25 mL increments to help users measure enough oil for a dose.

    CBD Toothpicks review

Ignite’s CBD toothpicks are made from CBD isolate, xylitol, spilanthes, sucralose, and natural and artificial flavoring. CBD toothpicks are available in a 250 mg package of 10 toothpicks (25 mg CBD per toothpick). Toothpicks are available in menthol, cinnamint, mango mint, lemongrass, passionfruit, and coffee flavors. To use the toothpicks, Ignite instructs users to suck on one end of the toothpick for 5-10 minutes. After 5-10 minutes, users should flip to the other side of the toothpick and repeat. When using the toothpicks, users should initially chew slightly (imprint tooth marks on the toothpick). When flavor begins to fade, users should chew more thoroughly on the toothpicks to release the remaining ingredients. When testing the mango mint toothpicks, a flavor was immediately perceived. The toothpick flavor was dominated by mint; little mango flavor was noted. Overall, the entire toothpick lasted around 20 minutes.

    Disposable Vape Pens review

The disposable vape pens are made from hemp oil, MCT, and various essential oils. Disposable vape pens are available in blood orange, apple berry, spearmint, tangerine, tropical fruit, lavender, and pink chill flavors. The dosing is somewhat confusing. On the package, Ignite suggests a single 6-second puff whereas ignite suggests a 3-second puff on the website. The apple berry pen had a distinct, apple flavoring that was present both during inhalation and exhalation. When trying the product, I was able to inhale a large amount in 3-seconds. The pen is easy to use; Consumers inhale without having to push any buttons to activate the pen.

CBD Pods for Rechargeable Vape Pens & CBD Vape Pen review

The packaging does not list the ingredients utilized in the vape pods. While researching further, the website states the vape pens are made from CBD hemp extract, glycerin, propylene glycol, and natural flavoring. CBD pods are only available in blood orange and tropical fruit flavors. The pen itself is a sleek, black pen that charges via a USB port and comes with a lifetime warranty. The pod easily slides into the pen and was free from any noticeable leaks. When trying the product, the pen was smooth to hit and had an LED light to indicate the strength of the inhalation. Both the tropical fruit and blood orange flavors were strong, distinct, and consistent with the flavors tested in other Ignite products. Of note, the vape pen comes with a warning that it cannot be sold to minors and should not be used by pregnant women.
