Why you can trustlogo

  • Leafreport's mission is to provide accurate, objective, and valuable content for CBD, which is why we're transparent about our review process  and  how we rate products and brands. We may receive compensation. Here’s how we make money.
  • Our review is consumer-focused only and we do not check or take a stand regarding medical effects.
  • Statements regarding CBD products have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
  • Please advise your physician prior to each use of CBD.

The Bottom Line

My review of Vida+ is very good. They are a premium CBD brand based on the quality of their hemp, the wide range of third party lab tests performed, their dedication to transparency throughout the website, and the variety of potencies offered. In light of these added benefits for the discerning CBD consumer, Vida+ manages to maintain a mid-range price point.

Vida+ publishes the quality, potency, and all other pertinent third party lab purity results for each product directly under the “Our Testing” link. When a Vida+ customer makes a purchase, buyers already know the potency for each product. They carry a wider range of CBD potencies than comparable brands, offering broad spectrum products that range from 10 mg to 1800 mg potencies.

They offer CBD tinctures, capsules, and a topical skincare product. Their prices range from $3.99 up to $139.00, which equals a low $.07 to $.09 price per mg of CBD for their tinctures, but a higher than average price of $.18 per mg of CBD for their capsules. Their highest $.24 price point for the CBD face serum is a premium price, when comparing other available CBD skin care products. They have an overall average price point of $.14 per mg of CBD, meaning that Vida+ falls in the middle, with more moderately priced CBD products than other comparable brands in the market.

They offer free shipping with a $99 minimum purchase, or a flat $5 shipping fee is applied at checkout. A 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee applies to all products. The accuracy variances for the potency of these Vida+ products are all below the 10% variance allowed. Their products were also purity tested for standard residuals, solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, and other contaminants. In addition, the company promises online and on the labels that no synthetic ingredients are used in their CBD products.

Pros: Cons:
  • Veteran and military discount program
  • Certified organic hemp oil extract by Colorado Department of Agriculture
  • Vegan products
  • Limited product catalog at this time
  • Heavy email marketing after newsletter signup
  • Wide variance in potency accuracy

Methodology

  • Read our methodology for more details about ranking and our review process.

    Data Collection and Rating

In our review process, we receive CBD products directly from the brand to personally review ourselves, so we can give you an accurate idea of the packaging, potency, taste, smell, feel, and overall experience of each product. We also discuss the company’s shipping and returns policy.
Another important step we take is reviewing each individual product for details such as the certificate of analysis to assess the CBD level and CBD variance, THC level, and contaminants.
We take all factors into account and give each CBD brand and each CBD product a score for each parameter.
All of the information we collect is generated into a concise, easy to read review and put into our extensive database. Keep in mind, our reviews are never intended to substitute or act as medical advice.

    Product DataBase

Our database collects key information for each product, including CBD product prices, potencies, third-party lab test results, flavors, additional ingredients, hemp quality, extract types, product variety, and more.
We then use all of this combined data to give each brand and product a standardized rating out of five points.

    Brand Review Process

There are many factors we consider when we review the quality, integrity and products of a CBD brand. We rate each brand on several factors including:

    • Transparency & accuracy. It is important that a CBD brand is forthcoming with who makes up their team, their mission, manufacturing process, and lab reports. Also, we look for the accuracy of the CBD and THC levels in the products’ lab reports.
    • Hemp quality. Hemp quality can be a deciding factor between a good CBD brand and a great CBD brand. We look for organic and sustainable farming methods with attention to detail in each manufacturing step.
    • The variety of products they offer. We like to see several CBD product types and flavors.
    • Customer service. It is essential that each CBD company has multiple ways to connect to customer service to ask questions. We look for speedy and complete responses.
    • Price and discounts. Competitive pricing is an important aspect of being a top-rated CBD brand. We also look for discount options and ways to save on your order.

    Market Reports

Another way Leafreport stands out from other CBD review websites is our evidence-based market reports. For each one, we purchase different types of CBD products and send them for independent lab testing to check whether their levels of CBD and other cannabinoids match the label.

    Information Updates

Writers and editors conduct our reviews and our database on an annual basis but continually make updates throughout the year. We maintain frequent contact with brands and highlight any changes in offerings.

    The Review Team

Our review team is made up of a wide chain of qualified CBD review writers, some with medical degrees, some with statistics backgrounds, others with ample experience in the CBD arena. Each and every one of our CBD reviews are approved by our medical reviewer before being published on our website to ensure all information is accurate.

    Conflicts of Interest

While Leafreport does have partnerships with many of the reviewed brands, we manage potential conflicts of interest by maintaining a wall between our content and business operations. This wall is designed to prevent our writers and the review process from being influenced or impacted by our business partnerships. This way, all reviews can provide an unbiased review that serves the interests of our users.

    About the Company

In 2018, Vida+, or Vida Plus, was launched in California by parent company Phivida. They introduced their proprietary topical CBD skin care product into the existing brand catalog in February 2020. The team behind Vida+ has been involved with modern holistic science for quite some time, claiming over 50 years of combined experience in tech and consumer product goods, or CPG, according to the company.

Vida+ is on a mission to help consumers replace pharmaceuticals with healthier choices to promote balance, and they give back to their customers by providing a significant discount for all military personnel and veterans. In addition, one of their main goals as a company is to ensure both CBD accessibility and affordability.

One of the ways they accomplish this goal is by offering exclusive sales and discounts once customers sign up to receive the Vida+ newsletter, but be ready for heavy targeted email marketing. In addition to their standard discount program, further inquiries concerning discounts or other matters can be sent via email directly to customer support.

    Transparency

Independent CBD testing is another important quality and safety control measure to ensure what is on the label in terms of CBD and THC content matches what is in each final product a customer receives. All of the products in my Vida+ order were tested for the standard CBD and THC potency and terpene profiles, as well as for purity and contaminants.

Customers of this brand will immediately notice that official lab results are visible on every product page online through a link at the bottom of the page, and are available for download. They publish all third party test results for all products in their centralized “Lab Results” page:

    undefined

Vida+ partners with Folium Biosciences to source their CBD oil products. Folium is an innovative producer and is actually one of the largest in the world, at that. Folium is based out of North America, and they are known for their transparency and top notch testing protocols.

Another of the company’s goals is complete transparency. For the “safety and wellbeing of their customers,” Vida+ utilizes the top tier services of Flora Research Laboratories and Columbia Laboratories for all of their CBD product testing, according to the company website and the actual lab test reports are available online for all products.

    Accuracy

This company practices the best techniques at all stages of their CBD cultivation, harvest, extraction, distillation, formulation, and nutraceutical packaging. Their CBD oil is sourced from non-GMO hemp, complete with a broad spectrum of cannabinoids.

In addition, Vida+ has partnered with the FDA to establish and implement better standard operating procedures for hemp products, and all of their products are formulated using clinical grade technology. According to the company website, their products are tested by multiple third party laboratories for quality, potency, and purity.

In a bid to ensure that their products are worry free, the company does synthetic cannabinoid testing, phyto-forensic verification, heavy metal testing, residual pesticide panel testing, stability assurance, microbial analysis, and solvent testing on each batch before release to the market.

The test results posted online were easy to match exactly to the batch numbers on my product labels, using the convenient “Our Testing” tab under the “Shop” heading online. Customers can also scan the QR code available on each product’s label, and they’ll be taken directly to the lab results on the main company website to enter the batch number clearly listed on the label.

The lab report for my 30 ml batch of their 600 mg tincture had a low 2.5% variance in CBD with 19.5 mg per serving (1 ml), which is a full dropper. There are 585 total mg of CBD in this tincture. This product passed testing for solvents, residues, heavy metals, and other foreign materials.

The 200 mg bottle of CBD face serum was also below the 10% variance allowed, with an 8% variance at 215 mg of total CBD. The product passed all testing for contaminants.

The 600 mg bottle of 10 mg CBD capsules tested at 720 total mg, or 12 mg per capsule. With a variance of 20%, this is above the acceptable 10% variance limit. All products in the order tested under the legal 0.3% THC limit, as clearly advertised on the labels. As noted above, the accuracy variances for these Vida+ products fell mostly below the 10% variance allowed concerning potency, and all standard purity tests were passed.

    Reputation

Established in 2018, according to their website, they pride themselves at Vida+ on their organically grown hemp harvests, closely monitoring and controlling organic farming methods, and operating in a GMP certified facility. According to the company, they want to share the broad spectrum CBD derived from their carefully nurtured hemp crop with consumers. They offer products that are quality assured directly by Vida+ to be as safe, natural, and as effective as possible.

Their customer service is outstanding, responding within one business day, and they stand behind their products 100%. If customers are not satisfied, Vida+ will easily exchange or refund any purchase within 30 days. They have numerous customer reviews and testimonials posted voluntarily, which are located on the bottom of each corresponding product page online.

    Manufacturing Process

Vida+ is a legal, authorized grower of premium Colorado hemp CBD oil extract. All of the products at Vida+ are sourced from Colorado hemp farms that grow organically, according to customer support. Additionally, they offer certified organic hemp oil extract backed up by the State of Colorado’s Department of Agriculture.

All of their CBD products are manufactured in a GMP certified facility. Vida+ uses a clean CO2 extraction method to safely remove cannabidiol from their organically grown hemp. Unlike harmful chemicals like hexane or propane, CO2 is a more natural way to extract cannabidiol using the physics of pressure and temperature.

They formulate each Vida+ CBD product with easily digestible MCT oil as the carrier. The all natural Medium Chain Triglycerides consist of saturated fatty acids scientifically shown to allow optimal absorption by the body.

They offer premium quality CBD products, available in tinctures, capsules, and a topical face serum. Their products range from 10 mg to 1800 mg, and are slightly higher priced compared to other brands, with an average product cost of $84.99 and an average price point of $.14 per mg of CBD.

    HempVida CBD Tinctures Overview

These broad spectrum CBD tinctures are CO2 extracted, because “Simplicity is key with our clinical grade extracts,” according to the company’s corresponding product page. They are soy and gluten free. The Vida+ tinctures contain complex phytonutrients, the naturally occurring nutrients found in hemp, in addition to the combination of flavonoids, terpenes, and cannabinoids inherent to the hemp plant.

The company includes better health and wellness as the suggested consumer outcomes, but this is not guaranteed by Vida+ to be the case for every consumer. An FDA disclaimer is clearly noted, and no specific suggested product uses are given for this sublingual or oral product.

According to the label, the company recommends that users apply 4 to 5 drops topically to clean and dry face, neck, and chest areas. This topical broad spectrum product is for external use only, as clearly noted on the label and online. There was a non detectable amount of THC in this product.

This 200 mg bottle of face serum was also below the 10% variance allowed. There was an 8% variance or 215 mg of total CBD. This topical skin care product is CO2 extracted and passed all testing for residuals, solvents, pesticides, and all other possible contaminants.

This liquid serum is milky white in color and almost translucent in appearance. It was not messy to use, however, and it absorbed quickly into my skin, leaving no stickiness or residue. Consumers are advised to wash hands thoroughly after use and to avoid any contact with the sensitive eye area.
