Why you can trustlogo

  • Leafreport's mission is to provide accurate, objective, and valuable content for CBD, which is why we're transparent about our review process  and  how we rate products and brands. We may receive compensation. Here’s how we make money.
  • Our review is consumer-focused only and we do not check or take a stand regarding medical effects.

  • Please advise your physician prior to each use of CBD.

The Bottom Line

My review of Game Up Nutrition is acceptable, but there is much room for improvement concerning their third party lab testing, customer service response time, pricing, and limited product catalog. Game Up needs to tighten up their testing. Although their potency variances match the labeled milligrams, they fail to test final products for heavy metals, pesticides, solvents, and other foriegn contaminants. Since hemp leeches from the soil, Game Up needs to improve their testing for purity, along with potency. They do offer free shipping with a $99 order minimum and include a 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee or exchange.

There is a centralized testing hub, and the accuracy variances for these Game Up products are well below the 10% variance limit; however, no purity test reports are available for these organic products, to the best of our knowledge. According to the company, because they use organic hemp grown without pesticides, Game Up does not currently conduct independent purity testing on their final products.

They carry a more limited range of CBD delivery methods than comparable brands, offering full spectrum, broad spectrum, and isolate products from 5 mg to 1000 mg with few potency options in between this range. Their compact catalog includes CBD topicals, tinctures, edibles, whole hemp flower, pre-rolls, and gummies. Their prices range from $7.99 up to $99.99, which equals an average price point of $1.91. This means that Game Up has higher priced CBD products than other comparable organic brands in the market.

Pros: Cons:
  • Centralized third party lab testing hub
  • Full spectrum, broad spectrum, and isolate extracts available
  • Organic, non-GMO products
  • Inadequate purity testing
  • $99 order minimum for free shipping
  • Higher than average pricing and no regular discounts

Methodology

  • Read our methodology for more details about ranking and our review process.

    Data Collection and Rating

In our review process, we receive CBD products directly from the brand to personally review ourselves, so we can give you an accurate idea of the packaging, potency, taste, smell, feel, and overall experience of each product. We also discuss the company’s shipping and returns policy.
Another important step we take is reviewing each individual product for details such as the certificate of analysis to assess the CBD level and CBD variance, THC level, and contaminants.
We take all factors into account and give each CBD brand and each CBD product a score for each parameter.
All of the information we collect is generated into a concise, easy to read review and put into our extensive database. Keep in mind, our reviews are never intended to substitute or act as medical advice.

    Product DataBase

Our database collects key information for each product, including CBD product prices, potencies, third-party lab test results, flavors, additional ingredients, hemp quality, extract types, product variety, and more.
We then use all of this combined data to give each brand and product a standardized rating out of five points.

    Brand Review Process

There are many factors we consider when we review the quality, integrity and products of a CBD brand. We rate each brand on several factors including:

    • Transparency & accuracy. It is important that a CBD brand is forthcoming with who makes up their team, their mission, manufacturing process, and lab reports. Also, we look for the accuracy of the CBD and THC levels in the products’ lab reports.
    • Hemp quality. Hemp quality can be a deciding factor between a good CBD brand and a great CBD brand. We look for organic and sustainable farming methods with attention to detail in each manufacturing step.
    • The variety of products they offer. We like to see several CBD product types and flavors.
    • Customer service. It is essential that each CBD company has multiple ways to connect to customer service to ask questions. We look for speedy and complete responses.
    • Price and discounts. Competitive pricing is an important aspect of being a top-rated CBD brand. We also look for discount options and ways to save on your order.

    Market Reports

Another way Leafreport stands out from other CBD review websites is our evidence-based market reports. For each one, we purchase different types of CBD products and send them for independent lab testing to check whether their levels of CBD and other cannabinoids match the label.

    Information Updates

Writers and editors conduct our reviews and our database on an annual basis but continually make updates throughout the year. We maintain frequent contact with brands and highlight any changes in offerings.

    The Review Team

Our review team is made up of a wide chain of qualified CBD review writers, some with medical degrees, some with statistics backgrounds, others with ample experience in the CBD arena. Each and every one of our CBD reviews are approved by our medical reviewer before being published on our website to ensure all information is accurate.

    Conflicts of Interest

While Leafreport does have partnerships with many of the reviewed brands, we manage potential conflicts of interest by maintaining a wall between our content and business operations. This wall is designed to prevent our writers and the review process from being influenced or impacted by our business partnerships. This way, all reviews can provide an unbiased review that serves the interests of our users.

  • At Leafreport, we order and test the products ourselves

    About the Company

Game Up is a premium CBD brand founded in 2019 by UFC stars Nick and Nate Diaz, offering an array of organic hemp derived products. In 2016, Nate encouraged the UFC to take a closer look at the extraordinary health aspects of CBD for “training recovery, inflammation and pain management in professional Mixed Martial Arts.”

The Diaz brothers were happy to see the general shift in the attitude of the UFC towards CBD use with the joint CBD research partnership between the UFC and Aurora Cannabis announced in May of 2019. Nick and Nate decided to start Game Up Nutrition with a mission to create their own line of health and wellness products that they felt confident selling to discerning consumers. These initial efforts, begun by the Diaz brothers, revamped the World Anti Doping Association (WADA) rules by helping to get CBD removed from the banned substances list.

    Transparency

Independent CBD testing is a vital quality and safety control measure to ensure that the labeled amounts of CBD and THC are very close to the contents of each final product a customer receives. All available third party lab reports for the Game Up product catalog are conveniently located in a link on each corresponding product page, as well as on the main menu under the “Lab Reports” link seen here:

    undefined

    Accuracy

Using the testing link under “Lab Reports” on the main menu, it was easy to match our products to the independent third party lab reports provided concerning potency. As far as the 1000 mg lemon lime isolate tincture, the independent lab reports confirmed an extremely low .54% accuracy variance with 994.6 total mg of CBD, which is below the acceptable 10% variance limit and the lowest variance encountered:

    undefined

The broad spectrum açai berry tincture tested at 1061.8 mg of total CBD in the 1000 mg labeled product leading to a variance of 6.18%, which is under the 10% accuracy variance allowed. This was ther highest accuracy variance in this order. However, to the best of our knowledge, standard purity tests for E.coli, pesticides, and heavy metals were not conducted for these organic Game Up products. No THC was detected in the broad spectrum and isolate tinctures, and less than 0.3% was confirmed in the 500 mg full spectrum pet tincture’s independent lab reports.

    Reputation

In business for almost two years, Game Up has built a solid reputation with athletes and everyday consumers for offering a wide selection of CBD extracts and organic formulations using all natural ingredients. Run by former UFC athletes who have experienced the benefits of CBD firsthand, Game Up is committed to eliminating the stigma of CBD use not only by athletes, but also by the general public.

According to the company, Game Up is adamant about creating safe, organic products that can “assist others maintain health and wellness in their daily lives.” On the company website, real time customer purchases scroll at the bottom of the screen, showing each purchase recently made, while further attesting to the popularity of Game Up’s products with their loyal consumer base.

    Manufacturing Process

Based in Las Vegas, Nevada, Game Up Nutrition is a legal, authorized grower of premium hemp, sourced from organic farms in Colorado and Oregon. All of their organic full spectrum, broad spectrum, and isolate products are non-GMO. They use a clean CO2 extraction method to safely remove cannabidiol from their phytocannabinoid rich, organic hemp without using solvents. Game Up formulates each of their CBD products in a GMP and FDA certified facility, using easily digestible MCT oil as the carrier for maximum bioavailability.

After formulation, the next step is independent third party CBD testing, which is an important quality and safety control measure utilized by Game Up to ensure that the labeled potency of CBD and THC matches the contents. They conduct independent potency lab testing for all of their products and post the results online, but to the best of our knowledge, no purity test reports were available at this time.

Game Up offers premium quality, non-GMO, organic broad spectrum, full spectrum, and isolate CBD products that are available in tinctures, edibles, topicals, whole flower, pre-rolls, and a pet tincture. Their products range from 5 mg to 1000 mg, but with few potencies in between. Game Up is higher priced compared to other organic brands, ranging between $7.99 to $99.99 with a $1.91 per mg average price point.

The Game Up topical muscle balm uses a proprietary blend of organic ingredients and isolate CBD to nourish the skin or for post-workout recovery, according to the company, but we have not tested these outcomes. It is white in color with the viscosity of a thick cream. It has a texture similar to beeswax, which is used as an ingredient, and applies smoothly and evenly.

When applied to the skin, it immediately provides a subtle cooling effect and leaves no residue. This CO2 extracted, organic balm is formulated with organic MCT oil for maximum bioavailability to targeted areas, large and small.
