Overall, there is not much background information on who is behind American Shaman, when the company was founded, and who makes up the team. They do have several forms of contact with their customer care team, free shipping for orders over $100, and a 45 day money back guarantee, which we appreciate. Plus, they help those in suboptimal financial situations access their products at a reduced price. In general, we would like to know more about the company and who is behind it.
There is minimal information available on the manufacturing and extraction processes used at American Shaman. They do mention that their nanotechnology is proprietary. They mention that growing and manufacturing facilities are located in the United States. However, details such as exactly where their manufacturing and growing facilities are located could be divulged. Their nano-technology was designed to break down the size of CBD particles for optimal absorption. however, scientific references to back up their claims were not published on their site.
We looked for the third party lab results that match our product’s batch number, but both were not found. Their customer service representative informed us that the results could take several weeks to be returned and were not available at this time. Plus, their third party labs only measure THC and CBD content and do not check for contaminant levels. We know very little about their manufacturing and extraction process.
One of the highlights of American Shaman is its broad product range. They offer CBD products, including tinctures, gummies, candies, skincare, pet products, capsules, and more. Overall they have an extensive range of products.
Pricewise, American Shaman is quite a bit more expensive per mg of CBD than average. Their CBD tincture products tend to be around $0.20 per mg or higher, whereas other CBD tinctures typically fall in the $0.05 to $0.15 range.

In our review process, we receive CBD products directly from the brand to personally review ourselves, so we can give you an accurate idea of the packaging, potency, taste, smell, feel, and overall experience of each product. We also discuss the company’s shipping and returns policy.
Another important step we take is reviewing each individual product for details such as the certificate of analysis to assess the CBD level and CBD variance, THC level, and contaminants.
We take all factors into account and give each CBD brand and each CBD product a score for each parameter.
All of the information we collect is generated into a concise, easy to read review and put into our extensive database. Keep in mind, our reviews are never intended to substitute or act as medical advice.
Our database collects key information for each product, including CBD product prices, potencies, third-party lab test results, flavors, additional ingredients, hemp quality, extract types, product variety, and more.
We then use all of this combined data to give each brand and product a standardized rating out of five points.
There are many factors we consider when we review the quality, integrity and products of a CBD brand. We rate each brand on several factors including:
Another way Leafreport stands out from other CBD review websites is our evidence-based market reports. For each one, we purchase different types of CBD products and send them for independent lab testing to check whether their levels of CBD and other cannabinoids match the label.
Writers and editors conduct our reviews and our database on an annual basis but continually make updates throughout the year. We maintain frequent contact with brands and highlight any changes in offerings.
Our review team is made up of a wide chain of qualified CBD review writers, some with medical degrees, some with statistics backgrounds, others with ample experience in the CBD arena. Each and every one of our CBD reviews are approved by our medical reviewer before being published on our website to ensure all information is accurate.
While Leafreport does have partnerships with many of the reviewed brands, we manage potential conflicts of interest by maintaining a wall between our content and business operations. This wall is designed to prevent our writers and the review process from being influenced or impacted by our business partnerships. This way, all reviews can provide an unbiased review that serves the interests of our users.
American Shaman is a company whose stated mission is to “bring wellness to humans and the Earth by producing the highest quality CBD on the market.” You can find some information under the “About Us” tab on their website to learn about the company. Here they state that they are “dedicated to bringing wellness to the world through ultra-concentrated terpene rich CBD oil derived from all natural, high quality industrial hemp.” They also emphasize that they follow the highest industry standards for both manufacturing and quality testing their CBD products. Creating top of the line CBD products that are potent, clean, and satisfactory to their customers is American Shaman’s goal. They offer a satisfaction guarantee and will refund your purchase within 45 days if you are not 100% satisfied.
Aside from their mission statement and some background on their manufacturing process, the “About Us” page does not share any other information concerning when the company was founded, who founded it, or who the members of the team are.
American Shaman realizes that not all people can afford their products and do not want finances to be an obstacle for people who could benefit from their products. They have created a “Compassionate Care” program that affords people with disabilities or low income, as well as veterans, a 30% discount off of purchases over $34.99. More information and the application for this program can be found under the “Programs” tab.
Although there is not a lot of information about who is behind American Shaman on their website, overall, this company has a good reputation in the field. They are known for their high quality CBD that is formulated using nanotechnology for maximum bioavailability, which means your body can absorb and process their CBD better.
Aside from selling their products online, there are dozens of physical store locations across the United States. American Shaman franchises their stores, and more information about their franchise opportunities can be found under the “Franchise” tab on the website’s top menu.
On the main menu of the website, there is an “FAQ” tab. Here you can find information about hemp, CBD, and its legal status. They also have an FAQ page discussing the endocannabinoid system and one about the DEA ruling regarding hemp and CBD. Compared to other CBD companies’ websites, American Shaman’s FAQ section is a bit limited. There were no questions and answers about their shipping and return policies, or common questions people tend to have when just beginning to use CBD.
To contact American Shaman, you can view their phone number, address, email, and email form on their “Contact” page. Their company headquarters is located in Kansas City, Missouri. They do not specify what their business hours are for their phone operators. Also, there is no live chat option on the website. On the top of this page, there is an FAQ section with a drop down section where there are answers to common questions about shipping, tracking a package, and issues with placing an order. Here they state that they offer free shipping on orders over $100 and the delivery time is 2 to 3 days.
When shopping for American Shaman’s products, you will see general information about the extraction process, details about the hemp oil they use, and that they utilize third party testing. Each product page is detailed and lists the name, star rating, mg of CBD, price, ingredients, directions for use, consumption methods, and some more information about the product itself. There is also access to third party lab results on the product page. All third party lab results can be found under the “About” tab under the heading “Lab Report.” You must have the batch number of the product to see the results. They do have lab reports available on this page, however, you will not be able to tell which report is for the exact product that you have in your shopping cart.
We looked at the third party lab results for the water Soluble ultra Concentrated Full Spectrum hemp Oil with a Cherry limeade flavor. This 30ml product is labeled as having 10mg of CBD per ml, therefore 300mg of CBD total, and less than 0.3% THC. Based on the lab results from Green Scientific Labs, we found that this bottle has a total of 342.3mg of CBD and 0.03% THC. This means there was 42.4mg of CBD per bottle in excess of the stated content. This leads to a CBD variation of 14%. Since the acceptable variance is 10%, this is a bit higher than optimal. There were no results for microbes, solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, or other contaminants.

Information about the growing and manufacturing process of American Shaman can be found under the tabs “Proprietary Nanotechnology” and “What is Hemp Oil” in the FAQ section. They discuss the difference between the hemp plant and the marijuana plant, and state that they only use hemp plants, specifically the flowers, to create their CBD. Their full spectrum CBD contains a blend of naturally occurring cannabinoids such as cannabigerol (CBG), cannabinol (CBN), tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). American Shaman products always contain less than 0.3% THC.
The website mentions that their hemp is grown in the United States using agriculturally responsible farms. However, the website does not specify exactly where in the USA the farms are located. Their growing practices are certified by the US Hemp Authority, which evaluates and approves growing practices that meet their standards.
While they do not go into the details of their proprietary nanotechnology, they do mention that the process involves breaking down CBD particles into extremely small sizes, which can be more easily absorbed by the body. They state that since the particles have a larger surface area, the body’s cells can absorb their CBD within seconds vs. hours. Because their nanotechnology is proprietary, we do not know what type of extraction methods they utilize. Furthermore, they do not mention where their manufacturing facilities are located.
Also, while most CBD tinctures are oil based, American Shaman’s CBD is said to be water soluble, which means it can be mixed into beverages. It should be noted that there was no scientific research or references linked to this page describing their nanotechnology and validating claims made concerning absorption rates.
As a quality control measure, American Shaman third party tests all of their CBD products. Third party testing is an essential practice as it ensures that the quantity of CBD and THC in the product is consistent with what is on the label. Third party testing is often used to look for contaminants such as microbes, pesticides, solvents, heavy metals, or other harmful substances. While American Shaman does test for CBD and THC content, they do not test their products for any of the contaminants mentioned above. In addition, some of their product’s third party test results are difficult to locate using the product batch number. We could not find all of our product’s results, so we had to utilize a different report that did not correlate to our product’s batch number, which is not ideal.
We compared some of the results that had been listed on their “Lab Reports” page. We compared the results for their full spectrum water soluble CBD tincture 0% THC in natural. This lab report showed that there was no detectable THC, and the quantity of CBD was 319.7mg per bottle of tincture. Since the label reports 0% THC and 300mg of CBD, there were 19.7mg of additional CBD, leading to a 7% variance., This is below the acceptable 10%.

The CBD cat food Kitty Nugs come in a 3lbs bag with 10mg of full spectrum CBD per cup. The label does not state how many cups are in each bag. This cat food is a chicken meal based kibble with a variety of other ingredients including peas, potatoes, salmon, chicken fat, eggs, and more.

There are a few other CBD products offered by American Shaman, such as probiotics and fish oils.
The CBD hemp oil omega 3 supplement contains 10 mg of full spectrum CBD along with 1200 mg of omega 3 (EPA + DHA) fatty acids. The supplement is a citrus flavored liquid. which comes in a small pouch. It was not possible to read the ingredients from the product picture. This product contains fish, however, they do not specify what type of fish nor which purification process was used to render the oil safe for consumption. This is an important factor in the production of high quality, safe fish oil supplements. The recommended dosage is one pack per day.
The SCD Probiotics + CBD is a liquid with ten strains of probiotic bacteria. They are available with 5mg or 10 mg of full spectrum CBD per serving. Each bottle constitutes a seven day supply. Our products arrived in about three business days packaged in a small white postal box with a shipping label. Inside, our products were wrapped in paper from the postal office. There was no branded box or packaging.
We contacted customer service via email to help us locate our specific batch number’s third party lab results. They replied within the same day, however, we were not impressed. Customer service did not have access to the lab results associated with the products we received and said it could take 4 to 6 weeks for their company to receive them. This caused us to lose confidence. It appears that American Shaman is not testing their products before sending them to their customers.
We received two products from American Shaman: the Water soluble ultra concentrated full spectrum hemp Oil and the 500 topical cream.
The water soluble ultra concentrated full emp oil was contained in a blue glass bottle with a dropper lid. The label lists the name of the product, the total amount of CBD (300mg), the extraction method (proprietary nanotechnology), and some supplement facts. Each ml of this oil contains 10mg of CBD. The directions for use are “Use ½ a ml in 8 oz of liquid. Stir and drink. ½ ml contains 5mg of Hemp Oil Concentrate. The ingredients are also listed on the label which read: purified water by reverse osmosis, natural flavoring, 100% organic and terpene rich concentrated full spectrum hemp oil, saponin extract, ascorbic acid.
The label also states that this oil has higher bioavailability, is absorbed more rapidly , and lasts longer. Keep in mind, these claims have not been verified by us, and we could not find any research references to back up these statements.
There was a batch number, but no QR code on this product. The batch number could not be found when we searched for our product’s third party lab results online.
This oil was an opaque, white liquid that had the viscosity of water. It had an overpowering smell, reminiscent of marijuana. Keep in mind, there is no marijuana in this product, only hemp. The taste of this oil is robust, and it tastes as it smells. It is intended to be mixed into a drink, not dropped directly in the mouth.
The 500 topical cream came in a blue glass tub with a black plastic lid. The label listed the name of the product, the total amount of CBD (500mg), extraction method (proprietary nanotechnology), size (2 oz), and some supplement facts. Each ml of this oil contains 10mg of CBD. The directions for use are “Use a drop of two of our 500 Topical Cream. A small amount spreads like crazy! Pat onto affected area and see a difference in a matter of days. Nature’s secret is at your fingertips.” The ingredients were vegetable glycerin, lanolin, aloe vera gel, DSMO, terpene rich hemp oil concentrate, vitamin A, D, & E oil.
This product had both a batch number and a QR code. Unfortunately, neither the QR code nor batch number was connected to any third party lab results.
The cream itself was a light yellow and the texture of a thick lotion. It spreads quickly onto the skin and absorbs rapidly without leaving any residue, only a soft, silky feeling on the skin. It had a very light smell that did not smell like anything in particular.
This CBD oil comes in a blue, glass bottle with a dropper lid. On the front, it lists the name of the product, flavor (cherry limeade), size (30ml), the total amount of CBD (300mg), the extraction method (proprietary nanotechnology), and some supplement facts. The concentration was 10mg of CBD per ml. The suggested use is “ 0.5ml (½ a dropper) in 8 oz of liquid. 2X Daily or as needed.” The ingredients included water, artificial flavor, polysorbate 60, olive oil, MCT, sorbitan, and vitamin C.
There was a batch number, and QR code on this product. We used the batch number to access the third party lab results. This batch had 342.99mg of CBD and 0.017% THC which is below the 0.3% cutoff. This sample contained 42.99mg more CBD than listed which means there was a 14% variance. That large a variance is above the acceptable 10% limit.
This oil was an opaque, white liquid that exhibited the viscosity of water. It had a pleasant cherry smell and tastes of cherry flavoring as well. It is intended to be mixed into a drink, not dropped directly in the mouth.
The bottle was made from blue glass and came with a dropper lid. It was 30ml in volume with 4mg of broad spectrum cannabinoids per ml, extracted using proprietary nanotechnology. Since this is a CBN tincture, it does not specify the amount of CBD per serving, only the total amount of cannabinoids. The suggested use is “0.5ml to 1ml in 8oz of liquid 30 minutes before bedtime.”
We compared the lab results to the label using the batch number. There was also a QR code you could scan). We found that this product had 0.03% THC, which is under the 0.3% cutoff, and 5.09mg of cannabinoids per ml. This means that there was a total of 152.7mg per bottle and therefore 32.7mg in excess of the total cannabinoids specified. This calculates to a 27% variance, which is above the 10% cutoff.
The oil itself was clear, thin in viscosity, and slightly white. It had no odor, but had a slightly chemically taste that left a mild tingling sensation in the back of your throat.
The terpene rich topical serum 0% THC came in a 15ml blue glass bottle with a dropper lid. This product was the 0% THC option. There was 30mg of CBD per ml, which means there was 450mg of CBD in total. The other ingredients were PEG-400, and DMSO. The label said “Anti-inflammatory with pain management” therefore the suggested application is for pain and inflammation. Keep in mind, these claims have not been verified by us. The directions were “Apply a dropper of serum to sore or painful area of skin, spread as needed. Serum will absorb within 15 min. Do not touch to clothing or porous materials while damp – serum contains oil and will stain.”
The batch number and QR code were on the side of the bottle. We used the batch number to locate the third to party lab results. These results showed that there were 31.236mg of CBD per mg, or 468.54mg in total. This was 18.54mg more than listed leading to a variance of 4% which is below the 10% cutoff. This sample was not tested for THC, so we do not know how much THC was in this batch.
The oil was completely clear and the viscosity of water. It had a very slight plastic to like smell and felt slippery when applied to the skin. The oil absorbs in about 15 minutes or so.
We ordered the CBD Gourmet Gummies in sour watermelon. These were packaged in a small white plastic bag with a releasebale top. The label listed the name of the product, the type of CBD (full spectrum), the number of gummies (10 per bag), and the quantity of CBD (25mg per gummy and 250mg total). The serving size was one gummy which means there are ten servings per bag. There were no directions on the bag. While these are vegan friendly, they are not suitable for those with a soy allergy. Each gummy ssupplies 20 calories and 4g of sugar.
There was a QR code and batch number on the bag. We used the batch number to look at the third party lab results which showed there was no detectable THC and 303.1mg of CBD per bag. This amounts to 53.1mg more than what was listed and a variance of 21%, higher than the acceptable 10%.
The gummies were pink, small, and firm. They were covered with sugar and both taste and smell like watermelon candy. They were chewy and overall very tasty. You can taste the undertone of earthy CBD, which leaves a bit of a tingle in your mouth.
CBD Energy Gummies come in a small plastic, white bag and contain a total of 10 gummies per bag. The front of the bag lists the name of the product, size, type of CBD (full spectrum), and quantity of CBD per gummy and per bag (25mg each, 250mg total). There are soy products in these gummies so they are not suitable for people with soy allergies. Each serving size, which is one gummy, contains 20 calories and 5g of carbohydrate. There are no directions for use listed.
We used the batch number on the bag to look at the third party lab results. There was 233.4mg of CBD per bag, 16.6mg less than what is listed for a variance of 7% and 0.01% THC, well below the 0.3% cutoff.
These gummies were chewy and tasted like lemon. They were small yellow squares with a sugary coating. There was a slight undertone of earthy CBD, but it was very mild.
The CBD brownies from American Shaman were packaged in a clear hard plastic container. There was a sticker on the front which lists the name of the product, type of CBD (full spectrum), number of servings (2 servings), and quantity of CBD (15mg per brownie, 30mg total). These brownies are not appropriate for those with allergies to eggs, milk, soy, or wheat. The nutrition facts for 37g of the product were provided but it was unclear how many grams this container had in total. A 37g serving provides 200 calories, 12g of fat, 22g of carbohydrates and 2g of protein.
There was no batch number or QR code on this product. We therefore could not assess the third party lab results without contacting customer service. We emailed them and they responded within a few hours and provided us with a link to the third party results. These show that there were 31mg of CBD per brownie, which is 1mg more than listed for a variance of 3%. There was no detectable THC and they did not test for contaminants.
The brownies were moist, chewy and had a delicious chocolatey flavor. Although there were two servings per container, there was just one brownie in each package.
We received the sparkling tea variety pack, which came in a small cardboard box with the cans of tea inside. The box shows that there are four teas inside and also has a picture of the teas. There were no directions for use or intended uses on the box. They did not list the type of CBD, but do mention that it is a nano hemp extract.
There was both a QR code and batch number on this product, however, neither connected to third party lab results. We contacted customer service via email to obtain help with locating these results. They told us to look at each of the lab results for each flavor, which was both on the site and attached to the email.
All four flavors passed for THC content having less than 0.3%. The CBD variance ranged from 5 to 7% which was within the acceptable 10% range. The company did not test for contaminants.
Inside, the teas were contained in aluminum cans which list the flavor of the tea, quantity of CBD (10mg), type of CBD (full spectrum), size (250ml), ingredients, and nutrition facts. There was also a QR code, which only connects to their lab report page, not to the specific results for the batch we received. The batch number could not be found. The teas themselves were light in flavor, fizzy, sweet and mild. There was a slight undertone of earthiness, however, overall they tasted similar to sparkling teas you can find at the grocery store.
The CBD Doggy Snacks arrived in a tan colored plastic bag. The front of the bag lists the name of the product, flavor (turkey), quantity and type of CBD (5mg; full spectrum), weight (6 oz), and number of treats (40). The suggested serving was “2.5mg (half a bite) per 25mg of body weight, once or twice daily, as needed.” We have not verified these claims.
There was no batch number, but there was a QR code. Scanning the QR code takes you to their lab report page. The results show no detectable THC and 2.30mg of CBD per treat. This is 0.39mg more than listed leading to a CBD variance of 20%. They did not test for contaminants.
The treats were round, beige, and crunchy looking. The flax seeds were visible within the cookie like texture. They had a light smell, similar to a cookie.
<h3″>Soft CBD Dog Treats
The soft CBD dog treats were packaged in a yellow plastic bag with a resealable top. The front of the package shows the anime of the product, quantity of CBD per treat (2mg), flavor (beef),and weight (100g). The back shows the directions for use “ once to twice daily, as well as how many chews are appropriate based on the weight of your dog.
There was no QR code, but there was a batch number. The lab report shows that there was no detectable THC and 2.8mg of CBD per treat. This is 0.8mg more than stated on the label, leading to a variance of 40%. They did not test for any contaminants.
The treats themselves are small dark brown, soft nuggets. They smell of beef flavoring and are soft and easily squishable.
